The never-ending battle against woke Hollywood and SJW infused entertainment media [trigger warning]

On a completely separate note...

They took the well beloved story line and changed two of the main female characters to having a relationship together which is completely unnecessary. The entire book is about STRONG, FEMALE CHARACTERS who are basically RUNNING THE WORLD. Why would you need to change this? Each one of the 14 books are INTERNATIONAL BEST SELLERS ALREADY. The only answer I can come up with myself is just to tick the woke box.

Just make a new TV series. Don't mess with something that (with fans like myself) is just jarring as you change MAJOR elements of the plot line.

Amazon Prime is attempting destroying both Lords of the Rings and Wheel of Time with woke garbage.

I did some cursory research that Amazon had A LOT of accusations of Harvey Weinstein-esque shennanigans so they quietly removed a lot of male executives and they promoted a few women and instructed them to push some pro-feminist narratives to improve Amazon's image.

So they have an incentive to do something other than make money. It is reasonable to try to get some good PR but you can empower women without culturally vandalizing classic IPs. On the other hand, since Amazon is very accommodating to the whims of the CCP and the CCP treats women like exchangeable commodities, maybe the executives just picked up bad habits from them. You cannot be against sexism, racism, and homophobia and be pro-CCP.

I'm guessing, something similar is going on. WB has not done anything overtly pro-CCP but I suspect they had some top level executives doing slimy things with regards to women. I think Amber Heard has some grade-A dirt on some WB executives. I don't see how she would be made of Teflon is she did not.

EDIT:
What puzzles me is why haven't the shareholders (whose focus is on profit, and who are ultimately in charge) put an end to these people. Warner Brothers fared worse than any other major studio in 2021...

I just had a thought. Warner Brothers is owned by AT&T. Disney is owned by Disney. I am pretty sure Sony Film is just owned by Sony.

You have to have shareholders complain to AT&T executives and then go down the corporate grape vine to Warner. Even if they wanted to change things, they have extra red tape and corporate bloat that will slow down any course correction.

Related note, I highly doubt HBO Max is cushioning the blow of their box office losses. Not that long ago, the WB execs were doing damage control at HBO Max's "slower than expected growth".

Warner Brothers might have done JK Rowling a favor by deemphasizing her for Fantastic Beasts 3 given that FB3 is likely to be the weakest of the franchise all around.

I do not like it when people misuse the word literally, so when I use it, I pause to make sure it is the appropriate word.

Director Chloe Zhao literally tried to the destroy the MCU. At least she is honest about trying to destroy the franchise she was given.

This is a symptom of a larger problem.

At this point, DC comics and Marvel comics are owned by VERY LARGE media companies.

In financial terms if AT&T was a large sundae, DC comics would be one chocolate sprinkle on that sundae.

If one sprinkle on a sundae is a mouse turd, you would probably not notice, especially if you were serving the sundae, not eating it.

The Dilbert principle is that if you do well at your job, you will get promoted. If you don't do well at your job, you will stay where you are.

That means over time, everyone will end up in a job they are not suited for.

Again, because it's a big company, the best and the brightest don't want to get saddled in the comic's division unless they really love comics but they people who really love comics are in the indy industry assuming they haven't had their love of comics beaten out of them.
