I also can actually buy him now instead of proxying my slann
The hieght of all base sizes are the same right? If thats the case, then this is roughly the size difference between new and old Kroak

I like a warscroll change, he is pretty busted as is in a very oppressive way, but I'd be lying if I didnt say I'm fearing some GW style heavy handed nerfs. It would be devastating if they nerf him to the ground just as he gets a new beautiful model.
reading the article, they make it clear that kroak is one of the most powerful wizards in the realm,, so I don't think we get any nerf
It might not be a nerf in the sense that he becomes weaker, but rather that he becomes less viable from a competitive point of view via point increases. Im guessing he's going to be costed similarly to other god-characters like Morathi, Teclis or Alarielle, hopefully the new rules matches the new cost.
we must make sure this model sells out in the first day and stays out of stock for a year
QUICK SAY THINGS ABOUT WARRIORS AND KROX
Guessing it's too big for the balewind now, which removes at least some part of what made him so difficult to balance.
Hopefully they finally figured out what to do with celestial deliverance so it's no longer either super oppressive or far too weak to be worthwhile.
I'm curious if guards will still be able to guard him. On the one hand, a god model with guards seems like something that could easily become problematic, on the other hand guards are already extremely limited in what they can actually do. Removing one of the two models they can actually guard seems rather lame. Maybe we'l get a guard rework by extention.
Hopefully this also means a small update for the regular slann. With Kroak formally ascending to be among the god-models proper there's room for the regular slann to do a bit more. Would be nice to make a plain slann a bit more interesting.
Really curious about this warscroll, even if I don't particularly like god-models.
Also, amazing model; already feeling guilty about how badly I'l paint him.
Bit of a shame this came after our tome though. Not nearly as weird as the LRL and Slaanesh getting double releases, but I'd still love to know what weird logic GW bases it's scheduling on.
I know that feeling. I may have to break down and pay somebody to paint this one for me.
Given that the article says "after all this time, Kroak only seems to have grown in power. This is represented in your games with a new warscroll", i believe he could be even stronger than now.
And obviously with a points increase.
Im expecting 550+ pts and god level status. so like teclis, morathi, alarielle, nagash tier.
It is unlikely we will receive any updated models alongside him. However, I have to imagine he's the first of what is to come down the road...
GW have just re-commited to Seraphon by updating Kroak and including us in advancing the setting for once (ostensibly).
I doubt there’s any battleline to come this time around; if we’re lucky it may be a dual Slann kit.
But I now don’t worry that Saurus won’t come one day.
I can almost see us getting the LRL treatment of a whole new book this year.
Its painfully obvious there are two rules writing teams at GW and one writes strong books and the other writes trash. our current book was written by the good rules team. if we get a new book it may be written by the bad rules team. I dont want to suck again. ive been dealing with weak lizardmen books for 15 years. i want to stay strong for a while yet.
Also, have there been any similar big named hero releases like this that didn't coincide with a bigger update? A new tome might be unlikely, but just releasing a super fancy new model like this with nothing else also seems rather weird.
what are the thoughts on that base size? 100mm circle? is that a thing?
Fuck man it would be lit if kroak was on that gargantuanThat is indeed a thing. The Eidolon of Mathlann is on a 100mm round base. Teclis is on a 160mm base, to give you an idea of scale.
Sorry @Putzfrau that was just me being kind of snarky. I don't REALLY think we'll get a new book, but it was a critique of the quick "re-release" of LRL and Slaanesh.Where is this new book talk coming from?
Feel like it's probably just an updated kroak warscroll in BR belakor like they've done with other stuff.

While unlikely, I do think it's possible for a Broken Realm Kroak book to come out. They hinted at an alliance with Morathi-Khaine and that Kroak is making a direct intervention. Yes, we're in BR Be'lakor, but if you told anyone here on Sunday we'd be getting a new Kroak the next day, you'd get laughed out the forum. It seems like a Kroak/MK alliance is a lot for a book about the return of the demon prince, and that GW said we'll learn about Kroak 'in a while' (he wont be available by the time we get our hands on BR Be'lakor)
Again, possible, unlikely, but possible.

I can see it. Seraphons answer to vorgorath and skalok except with more magic controlImagine if Kroak has a Dread Saurian as a mount?
Kaiju Kroaknado.

I'd really hope they don't limit him to starborne. Coalesced already is already not particularly brilliant.Fantastic model, I think it will get the Starborne keyword and change the Temple Guard rule. Coalesced and Guard +16 Wounds
(God treatment) is heavy
Honestly if he gets more utility, a vaguely decent profile where he no longer needs the guard & losses some damage I'd be fine with that. The loss of damage might even be a good excuse to keep his point costs reasonably low.I'm guessing that his spells like Celestial Deliverance will get a bit of a nerf in the damage department, but his casting strength will go up (like Teclis) and he'll probably get some new utility spells or abilities. And see above for the Balewind opinion.
I'd be fine with that. Most of our models are fine-ish, we don't need an entire new line. I'm just hoping they'l do more than the one unit.Exactly. However, most of the new stuff that's been released alongside the big models has been just that, entirely new units with new models. We have yet to see a large range refresh for old armies that transitioned to AoS. However, GW seems to be doing just that with the Vampire Counts... I mean Soulblight Gravelords. So who knows? They might be running out of steam for entirely new army ideas and are looking to refresh older ones at long last...
Is he? I would swear it's a backpack.
I mean sure, but this can't possibly be good PR-wise. Especially when you consider that the pandemic has slowed things down. I mean, would this mean that without the pandemic they'd had gotten a new tome within like half a year?
I prefered the SCE, even they didn't get an entire new tome this quickly during a pandemic where everything's slowed down to a crawl.
