A new year, a new day!
After my immediate family flew back East on the 29th, I set myself to task with prepping the load outs of the Van Saar gang I'm taking to the next Necromunda campaign in my local gaming group, building and magnetizing 2 plasma guns, a grav gun, and a servo claw. I'm kind of ticked that I still don't have a hard copy of the new House of Artifice book yet (I know, I know, disrupted supply chain and whatnot), not to mention having to resort to an ePub that doesn't come in PDF formatting, but I was able to scrape together a small gang of six Van Saars with what was now available, two of which are awaiting the new Archeotek and Neotek models to come out.
Prior to sitting down for a multiplayer game of Stellaris last night with an old friend who's in Ontario, I ran the errand of picking up the Primaris Gladiators, as well as a misplaced box of Bolt Action content I had been waiting on for a month (note to self: be more specific as to where the package is to be dropped off...). Already sated of the European theater of WW2 through Flames of War, I opted instead to pick up playing a Japanese army, and so I now have a box of 30 infantrymen that I need to build for a 500pt skirmish game on Tuesday.
For the time being, I'll be taking my time getting the two squads and their commanding officer together. One thing I will say about the models is that they're somewhat fiddly compared to GW minis since the 28mm models from Warlord Games are nowhere near as exaggerated - I already lost one LMG bipod trying to get it off the sprue, and narrowly avoided a repeat with the second.
So far, I've got six Japanese infantry assembled far enough to be recognizable in their roles - four riflemen, a light mortar, and a prone LMG. I still need to appropriately model the loaders for the mortar and LMG as riflemen with lots of ammo pouches hanging off of them
In the middle of it all, I decided to slap together the Fanath Blood Bowl Kroxigor, the knocked down and stunned tokens for it, Glart Smashrip, and a few other singular miniatures that were taking up space.
And still no word yet on the Ezocamtl General on Dilophosaurus model.
