Blog Suds Painting & Kitbashes of 2020

He is turning out great, I like the sharp end of the weapon.

What you perhaps can do with the shaft and handle is:
- make the shaft more of a taupe-ish color(like the handle is now)
- change the color of the handle to some form of purple or blue (what best fits your colorscheme)

I choose to do all the shafts of my army's weapons in a Taupe style, as I felt brown wouldn't add much to it.
(Base color Baneblade brown with a highlight of Rakarth Flesh)

My Scar Vet on Cold one for reference ;)

PS: sorry for trolling your Painting log with my model :angelic:

No need to apologize! You were showing an example so I appreciate it (great work btw!)

I like that color a lot! May do the same, I think it would look good with my colors for sure

So I'm on vacation so I dont have better pictures of it at the moment, but with the news of a new battletome and terrain piece I needed to share a nee project that I've wanted to do for awhile but now feel I actually can.

I have had this Aztec Temple/Pyramid since I was 15 that I got while in Mexico. I have a lot of history with it that I wont totally go into (it's kinda sad and depressing that left me almost dead) but I am happy that I will now be able to give it new life!

Planning to convert it some with idols etc and then paint it. Its gonna be SO COOL! I also figure two different Pyramids/Tramples for variety wont hurt. It is also about the same size (though cant totally check as I am in California atm)

So excited! I know yall are too for the new stuff!

Do any of you have some long waited project that can now be done?

I can't really call it long awaited, but I've been putting off painting anything Seraphon until the new Battletome was released. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Now to determine if it is the end of the tunnel or an on-coming train. ;)

That's a nice little temple! I made a few terrain pieces myself; I would be curious to see what conversions you could pull off with that thing if you go forward with that project!

Thanks! I definetly have some planning ahead of me, I may use a clear stand piece to do a flat magical maelstrom/galaxy effect above it or something. Also debating what idols or if ang Idols at all (may put some on the top part where the clear piece would go...it'll be easier to show once I'm back in Michigan)

Lots to consider

Was on vacation to California and it was beyond amazing! Saw the Ocean for the first time (gorgeous but I prefer the Great Lakes!), had amazing food (most important thing on vacation for me, especially as a chef lol) and most most importantly got to spend some quality time with my beautiful partner. It's been a rough past 7 months, so it was exactly what her and I needed.:D:)

Now that I'm back I decided to finish my Moon Warrior/Scar Vet on Foot/Alpha warrior :)

I changed the handle of his weapon to a more stone looking and then went to the base! Got some dirt from outside, laid down some Elmer's (pva) glue and made a small river Delta creek looking thing. When mostly dried I put some contrast down (Aethermatic blue and Talassar blue) and then poured some resin on. Letting it dry over night, hoping it turns out alright!

Will do some touch ups as needed tomorrow, but over all really happy with it.

C&C as always is welcomed and encouraged :)

So...checked the base...resin seeped passed the glue and dirt somehow and got into the tape folds

:(:confused:o_O is how I'm feeling right now lol ugh. Will have to deal with it in the morning after it dries....

the colors on the base look great. It's a shame it didn't stay in place.
(I still need to start experimenting with this, so exited to see some do's and don'ts on this ;) )

I think the main downfall was that I packed the dirt down meaning I believe I lost the height of the glue to keep it in place...lesson learned, but a valuable one. Aside from that I think I did everything ok...but we shall see on round 2 and I'll do my best to give some better pointers

The second resin pour went well! After fixing some loose areas it set nicely :)

Working on the shield now! Doing a freehand design based off a Roman ring I saw at a museum in California.

It is supposed to represent the purifying power of the moon radiating out, which my cohort worships due to their Serpent god Metzlitlaco.

What do you all think? C&C always welcomed and encouraged

Oeh wow, I dig that freehand motive on his shield! :artist:

The black scales all have an (extreme)highlight which gives the shield some sort of glaze feel.
To complete that feel you can add a highlight on the freehand as well.

[edit: after posting I figured the highlights might have been mend to be starts ]

Thanks! And yeah, they're stars lol here is the finished minus a shade of Nuln oil on the shield and the side of the base

I host a painting competition on a Warhammer FB page I help admin, the winner is chosen through a poll by the community. This months theme is Hero/Leader and I will be entering my Sunblood, pretty excited about it. I am not sure of the color scheme yet but something to represent the moon will likely be the inspiration as that is the direction my army is going now (I am as of now no longer using Posion Dart Frogs as my inspiration as before).

To go along with the new fluff I am writing Feridian Grey, other blues/greys/silver will likely be used as my army holds the moon in the highest regard and seeks out silver as a higher borne metal than Gold, unlike other lizardmen/seraphon.

Here is the model I'll be using after I clean it up some. I'll be doing the shield seperately and doing another free hand design to represent his status within the Army, which will be disclosed at another time, though I have a pretty sweet idea for it:cool::rolleyes:. It will resemble my Alpha/Scar Vet shield that I posted before but slightly tweaked. I'm super excited to also do some freehand *something* on his back banners, Any suggestions on that would be appreciated!

Update on my Sunblood :)

Going for. Feridian Grey Underbelly/Soft Tissue has and a Lilac base for the Scaled areas, I think the colors compliment each other well! Will highlight the lilac with purple and screamer pink and the Feridian with blues. Havnt made a lot of progress but wanted to share what I have so far.

The inspiration is the Full Moon and The Blood Moon, each transitioning into each other.

So today is a pretty exciting day, I finally got the neck armor on my Thunderlizard! 13 Carnosaur head crests later and I think it is finally really starting to feel like it's coming together, even though there is so much more to do lol. People have asked me if I'll add armor to the under belly of the neck and my honest answer is: I dont know. On one hand I think it's a great idea that I've considered and still am considering, but on the other hand I cant decide if thatll make it look ridiculous (or more so depending on who you ask lol). If I do, "how much more armor do I add" is the question that I keep asking myself when thinking about the underbelly of the neck.

My thought process on the neck and tail armor is this or has been this: Her skin is naturally tough and thick, so normal ranged attacks or even spells arnt able to penetrate at all or very deeply. However Aerial units/Monsters with claws, beaks and fangs I feel naturally would be able to cut through the flesh more easily from above (since as a predator that's what you do).

What do you all think? I'm very excited! I'll get better pictures tomorrow, I just really wanted to share in the moment!:D:cool::)

Honestly if you do all of the neck it be over kill, but perhaps a nice big chest plate would make her look good, perhaps the stegadon crest or maybe a piece of Bastiladon back , to protect her heart ?!? So Skaven can’t poke her heart out ?!?
