What are you doing today hobbywise?

Took my lunch break to paint a bit of some Cold Ones.
Couldn't do as much as I liked, but bit by bit I'll get there ;)

Assembling my Start Collecting Ironjawz. Thinking about how to take it to 1k and 2k, and about Ironjawz paint schemes. I want to do a very colourful army, with something like 5 main different armour plate colour schemes (red, yellow, bone white, black, blue1, blue 2) mixing them across the army. I tried this approach on Goblins and Trolls for my Gloomspites and looks very good, with colour
variety being the unifying concept. Of course, this requires a relatively small set of recurring colours looking carefully at relative weight and interactions, but I tend to like the results.
What do you guys think about it?

Very interesting Color combinations.
Do you have some pictures of your Gloomspite army?

Will the colors be evenly distributed across the units?

Picking up my Salanders pre-order today. Might build Adrax Agatone when I get back home.

I'll post some pics here tomorrow

Assembling a new lamp, because my Skink eyes are not as good as when I was a young star apprentice and need more light to see all the details :P

Painting the first unit of Fellwater Troggoths. Almost done. Much easier than their rockgut cousins. Plus I got a new big pot of Lahmian Medium so everything is easier and smoother.

Currently thinking about a scheme for the skin of my Ironjawz. I don't like the old 'waagh flesh-warboss green- skarsink green'.
Most of the current 'Orruks' skin colours pushed by Gee Dub seem to revolve around Ogryn Camo, and I kinda like the results.

My ideas revolve around these paints
BASE: Death World forest or Elysian Green or even Ogryn Camo
WASH: Biel Tan Green
INTERMEDIATE LAYERS: Elysian, Ogryn Camo
HIGHLIGHTS: Kireg Khaki, Kislev Flesh, Flayed One Flesh.

At some point I would like to add a Reikland/Agrax mix very diluted with medium to tie up everything.
What do you guys think about it? Is it worth to give each orc a slightly different skin tone?

Been looking over the Bonereapers book, was hoping I could ally some Nighthaunt in but they have no allies, but the thought of them being part of Nagash's large army and the Bonereapers just look at the others and stick their noses up makes me laugh a bit. Maybe I should read the lore first so I can get the idea of why they don't have allies.
Was hoping to have some Glaivewraiths mixed in.

I did a lot this weekend.
My buddy came over and we kitbashed some stuff. Also worked on bases for Arkhan and the Mortis Engine and painted some terrain.

My buddy helped me to understand what I was doing wrong with my airbrush (a lot as it turned out) and after that I used it for some base coating. I am now a bit more confident with it.

Making a swamp base for the cold one. Sand and PVA are truly awesome terrain sculpting tools!

Re-basecoating my Saurus Guard.

I previously sprayed them in my cold garden then brought them into my toasty house too soon. A few little 'bubble holes' were created resulting in a tidy up operation.

All is now good and am reaching for the Stegadon Scale Green...........

Tidying up at the moment but it's still a mess :p Trying to get through the backlog as usual, close to getting all the Nightrunners built, another 20 and that should be 80 in total. Close to hitting the metal/Resin pile that I keep pushing away.
Also trying to thin the collection down a bit but it's hard. Problem when I like so many armies and wanting to try new themes and ideas. Just trying to make room for the Bonereapers etc
Found my Dark Elves Corsairs and it always reminds me to carry on collecting Dark Elves, mostly because they were my first army

Contemplating the basing for the Heavy Mortars for my Renegades and Heretics army. I know what to do, just trying to decide how much modeling putty I need to mix up to do it. Also need to assemble some Clanrats, a trio of Packmasters, and 2 Giant Rats. Oh, and my Thudd Gun needs crew...
