Blog The Jade Host: Mayan Lizardmen

Hey I appreciate it! Lots of fun to do, the coatl is an old project from the very start of this army, standard bearer is something I did much more recently. Really like how well the standard themes for the army in particular. And the terrain is always fun!!

I’ve already started my battle standard/astrolith, but I’m definitely taking some of you’re creative influence and trying my own skink priest on winged coatl to maybe use as a skink starseer. It flies after all! :p

Hi @Warden. I can't remember if I've commented on this thread previously, but let me just say that the amount of work, the quality and the creativity of this Lizardmen/Seraphon army is really impressive and humbling. Bravo!

What a magnificent army!

Made a blog scroll for my Lizardmen updated for the first page, similar to the one I made for my other paint blog :artist::D

In other news, for my 5000th post to the forum I restarted up an old project! Still got a bit to do, but it is turning out great so far :vulcan:

Stellar stella!

Stellar comment :D

...Good news fellow lizards!

For this my 5000th post I humbly submit to you a project that has been a long time in coming: the Council of Slann!

Shown here with the original:

warden20200721_slann council complete 08.jpg

All slann are cast resin from the original metal version (the slann I have is pretty old at this point o_O) and their palanquins are all just painted foam on wood dowels. WIP pictures are sprinkled through the thread, along with the inspiration for each of them way back here.

Not sure if @Itepixcauh still lurks these halls but the slann inspired from his own amazing version is probably my favorite:

Slann #2:

warden20200721_slann council complete 15.jpg

Slann #3 is my second favorite of the bunch, inspired by the forumite Presso I believe:

Slann #4:

Slann #5:

And Slann #6:

Here the Slann Council gathers around the pool of ruminations to ruminate about things:

This project was a lot of fun, if very fiddley. The magnets for the palanquins didn't settle the way I wanted them to, so repairs are in order at some point.

Old and new side by side:

Special thanks to everyone on this forum to keeps me coming back, including but certainly not limited to @Scalenex , @pendrake , @Crowsfoot , @Jorgik, @NIGHTBRINGER , @n810 , @thedarkfourth , @Killer Angel , @Aginor , @Lord Agragax of Lunaxoatl , and of course the legendary wit of @spawning of Bob. It has been an honor to share this hobby with you, looking forward to the next project! :vulcan:

Beautiful work. That is a fine council of mighty Slann! A worthy and fitting post for #5000!

Marvelous collection of Slanns!

Truly deserving of a 5000th post.
I like the paintjob, both on the Slanns as well as the Stella palaquins :artist::artist:

Grrr, Imrahil

Many thanks , the project was tons of fun painting both the Slann and their Mayan stela-inspired palanquins :D

I updated the photo to include their respective poison dart frogs/tree frogs:

Also got a slew of WIP photos I didn't post earlier, to include better shots of the bases:

Underside of the bases are marked so I can tell which base goes to which slann.

Moar shots of the palanquins and the stela:

Back of the palanquins all have random things written on them in lizardmen glyphs:

warden20200721_slann council complete 03.jpg
And the undersides are also painted. Magnets are in the rough center of each one:

I can't stretch to much how wonderfull they're looking.

It would be a hell of a Game to field them all:cool:

Grrr, Imrahil

I mean technically the 7 slann and 3x10 skinks is 2000 points.... now will one let you field 7.... but then 6 slann, 10 guard and 40 skinks is also 2000 points.... and legal.... good probably not, but for fun hell yeah!!!

I can just picture the counsel surrounded by guard and then by skinks!! Hehehehe
