AoS Seraphon REPRESENT!! 5 - 0 @ AdeptiCon Tournament.

I wonder if 4 more Razordons would be better than the Evocators. Still anti horde, and if you have a turn where your skinks are in good positions already, you can potentially double TP and shoot off an enemey uni in the backfield, etc.

if I had 200 points to spend.... it woud be a second ripper unit and a nother skink unit

@Aginor , In the setup it made a bit of sense. He had a basti on the left side, and the stega + evocators on the right side. razors in de middel.
I guess the also can be a nice wall, where your opponent thinks twice to land. I believe he cleared a unit of 30 elves with that. Caught them on a skink screen, retaliated with the evocators and shot them with the razordons. Razordons are good, but if you dont clear the unit, u might be in trouble. attacking ofcourse happens twice each battle round. But it illustraded nicely what we need, saurus Guard with multiple wounds!

@Crowsfoot He did put saurus guards head on them for conversion. I never thought about that, but its a nice way to mimic guards.

Come to think of it, evocators have 21 attacks with 3+3+ -1 and so do 10 saurus guard. The real difference ofcourse is the wounds. 15 vs 10 at 4+. And getting 10 models in combat.
I guess the Guards also are to dependent of a warden nearby to make the ‘good’. 4+ save on mortal wounds would be great!

Any news/rumours on the new seraphon book?

Watched the final game against DoK . If you have Amazon prime you get a free twitch sub. I use that for warhammer tv.

The seraphon player played a very strategic game. I believe his opponent made some mistakes which allowed the seraphon player to run the objective.

I'll be honest this is not how I want to play my Seraphon tho. Feels like a skaven army but with dinos...

Edit: maybe I'll make a "stormcast" army with a bunch of Saururs guard heads xD

Yeah several people have described his games basically as "running away while claiming objectives".
Hat's off to him for pulling it off, but... not exactly my style of play either. I'd like to be able to, you know, kill stuff.

He had a lot of range fire power, but like you said his main goal was simply get Skinks onto objective. Important to remember this is tournament play. I'm with you tho, not my playstyle or what I want MY dinos to do. I'm fine with this being a strategy for Seraphon. Just sad that this is probably the best strat for competitive Dinos.

Yeah, to be fair the best way to win is usually play the objectives, but I totally get wanting to kill things. Also so many things are hard to kill without reliable mortal wounds or rend. Our hammer units are just so lackluster compared to our skink units. Hopefully the new book will support both playstyles. I think opponents prefer playing fighting lists too, especially more casual players, but it's not fun to watch your Carnies get beat up...

Thats the one change i want. Make carnos moderately scary in combat or make them true monster killers. I want at least a chance to kill a vampire lord on zombie dragon or ghoul king on terrorgheist if i get the charge off. Right now those things just lawnmower through our army and theres almost nothing we can do about it.

Anyone know if he used solar or ark on the basti, and if he used bow or flamers on steg? the list doesn't have that listed.... is he allowed to change between games?

Also his list has zero points for the Aliies... but 200 points in evocators... hows that work?

He has 220 points free, just enough for engine #2!

Let me know if you would like some battlereport from my part. I have tons of photos. But if you do, i'll write them down very detailed:D

ABSOLUTELY YES!

Keep also in mind that I hold the index of Amazing BatReps, so i would relally like to insert yours! ;)

If not for the evocators, it's not so much different from lists i sometime play.

Match 5, Solar and bow. Not sure if you can change it. Only watched the one match.

the evocators may not have "pulled their weight" but sometimes a unit out of the blue like that can distract the opponent. I have made prodigious use of the "Distraction Carnifex" in my 40K Tyranids army. (although when its 3 carnifex's lead by old one eye is slightly more than a distraction lol)

Yeah, 3 carnifexes and OOE is more a real threat... :D

Just finished the last one! Let me know what you think!

Excellent! I will look at it :)

I wonder why he used the Evocators.
Sure, they have three wounds each and can do decent damage, but they don't synergize too well with our troops.
He could have played 30 Skinks (twice the wounds and faster) or 10 Saurus Knights (still more wounds and faster) instead, or quite a number of other Seraphon unit combinations.

...I have the feeling I am missing something.
Maybe because of their ability to cause mortal wounds to horde units? Could work against stuff like Gobbos or Skellies.
I may be late to the party, but here my two cents! They do well like you described them, but I believed one of their best advantage is that they are a 15 wound wizard unit. In certain scenarios like arcane places of power, they are invaluable to hold down objectives, especially with our army where most of our wizards want nothing to do with the front line!

wait, those scenario's don't specify it needs to be a hero? That makes some of those wizard units horrificly overpowered for those kinda missions.

Game 5. They played the scenario where the objective moves around. A wizard counts as 20models in terms of holding it. So the unit of 5 evocators counts as 20 models when it comes to controlling the objective.
They did not make it to the objective alive.
