AoS Can you help me?..feeling lost

first off, i would use not the astrolith bearer in that setup. its 160 points for rerolls to hit which the slann can give with a constellation (rerolls of 1). secondly id give the skins boltspitters. they do less damage but it keeps them outside of charge range. thats 360 points that you could spent ona shadowtrike host. I use it to take out those pesky backline mages that cast mortal wounds and buffs. everything else looks nice

Ehmm...how did you afford a shadowstrike host in There? Can you link a list?

Would you say its competitive with 2 Hosts? Seems like a big point investment

oh no going 2 hosts is not competitive at 1500. but i figured it was just a bit of help seeing as he didnt really know what to go. More experience the better ey.

The list im trying right now is

Slann Starmaster: 260
- Vast intellect/Great rememberer
- General

Eternal Starhost: 130
Eternity Warden: 140
- retricae

5 Saurus Guard: 100
5 Saurus Guard: 100
5 Saurus Guard: 100 Total 570

Skink Starpriest: 100
40 skinks: 200
- Boltspitters
- Stardrake shields

Bastiladon: 280
Salamander: 40
Skink handlers: 40

Grand Total: 1490

As said im still tweaking, if oyu got any questions why anything is chosen just ask. Answering might make me realise some mistakes

Also, if you want a real nasty trick: pick great rememberer for your slann and cast mystic shield on your bastiladon. Teleport both your stegadon and bastiladon 9" from the enemy lines. Use the stegadon ability to move the bastiladon D6. Charge and laugh with a 2+ rerollable bastiladon stomping through the enemy lines. After drinking the tears of the warmbloods Go to hell for your sins
Pretty cool but you could supercharge it even more with more buffs like Celestial Rites for example.

celestial rites would only give a reroll on the charge. while useful its only a 50% cjance. I get the reroll with saves anyways from the slann

When using 3x5 guard..do they all get banner or how do you do it with weapons and such?

Cheers

Every unit can have full command so a Unit of 5 has a banner, drummer and champion, a unit of 10 can only have one of each etc etc

Each group should have a banner and a drummer since there is no downside to using them.

Is this a ghb thing? Always thought the number of banners and musicians is optional... meaning you can have as many as you want... for leaders it's clearly just one alpha per unit... just judging by the warscrolls...

you can have how many banners and musicians you want, saurus warriors/guards/knights don't have an explicit limit on them unlike say the special weapons for some stormforged guys. There's usually no or little point to having multiple though, and people are bound to look at you funny and think you're going to be that guy the moment you overdo it.

Yeah for that purpose I made all banner bearers and musicians different from each other so in a pinch I can just say: "the red one" or so.

You can yes but as most play with one per unit I thought it would surfice saying one as you don’t want an alpha and 4 banner bearers in a unit :D

Well if you have a unit of 40 taking 4 banners is vaguely worth it since their effect is only 5". Allows you to spread it out a bit and doesn't look idiotic either in a horde unit so people are probably not going to make a fuss in that case. Having 40 walk around with banners is just going to be silly though :p

That would look awesome though.
I imagine Saurus Warriors like Samurai with banners on their backs...
...hmmm... didn't someone do that? Could have been @Warden

Well... for alpha and musicians it's true that you don't need more than one but @Canas is right about the banners... but we're talking about guards, right? So one might say that in their case the need for additional banners is less urgent than for warriors... more than two banners seem unnecessary... I think... as if you run 20 in one unit that's already a really big unit of guards...

I did it for Nekaph, the named Herald of Settra.
I must definitely do it also for my sauri...
