im new to painting

Ahhh!
Ive spent all day trying to paint the stream of fire for my salamander but i cant get an effect i like!
Heres what im using for the fire. Does anyone have any tips for the novice painter im am?2016-08-10 20.07.30.jpg

Start with an overall white base coat, then apply yellow leaving white in the recesses and then paint outwards with orange and red and a final light drybrush of black to represent smoke. The idea is that the inside is the brightest (white) and it darkens the further away you go from the "core" of the flame.
Hope it helps :)

You might want to try flame that's more of this sort of shape...

Also i am trying to make an aztec like temple.
Any advice on how to paint it?
+make vines growing on it?
thanks to everyone for previous and future help!

looking through Jorgik's stuff made me realise i should start on scenery.
note. i wont be able to make anything nearly as good as his. I have always been into the gaming and tactics so all my scenery is cardboard walls and foam entrenchments,
and my lotr elven treetop platform i made when i got my first legolas model :-)
its made of toilet roll tubes and shoe box card and the trees dont look like trees either...
it was a great tactical point for mordheim! Ill see if i can find it :-)

I lost topic a bit there.. :-)

Search terrain Wench on youtube, she´s got an awesome scheme and she explains it. That´s the one I used on my scenery :D
(and not only the paint scheme I used on my terrain...)

And thanks! ;)

Awesome kroak conversion! I don´t know about the palanquin patterns, so can´t help you with that.
Cool army!

Kroak phone home! He looks great! The pattern would be stone with the Kroak death mask like in the bastiladon and bines growing on it. Can't wait to see what you do with this!

How did the bastiladon go?
It looks as if you drybrushed on top of a black undercoat? :)
ive slowly been making the solar engine, but i havnt been around much and have been distracted by other things such as destroying dwarves (my twins army) and struggling to defeat ironjaw orcs (my brothers army)..
... until i got Kroak that is... :smug:

So lucky you have your own club at home :joyful:. I wish my sisters played... and I have tried very hard :bucktooth::bucktooth::joyful::joyful:

3 way gameswork best if you have objectives that count points every turn. For example if you set up a courtyard in the middle, and for every wound you have in there at the end of the turn you get a point. You get additional points if your general is in there, and additional points for every unit you kill. Bonus for the generals. Ar the end tally up the points and see who won that round.

please throw out your usual help and hints ( I appreciate all the help you've given to me)

Here is what the bits look like for his chair. The irregular hexagon is the seat above right of that is the back, left and right are the arms, the arm on the right has a mini skeletal skink, but that's a minir detail. Below the back of the seat is Kroak's death mask. And there's a banner type detail in there as well.
