hi,
i'm going to get a bastiladon, it will be the largest thing in my army so i want it to look good, but i'm new to painting models (i used to play Lord of The Rings battle strategy with my brothers painted elven and gondorian force) but now i have my own lizardman Age of Sigmar army. all my other models are smaller so the detail isnt needed to make them look acceptable, but i'm getting a bastiladon...
I have some colours and a brush, whats the easiest way to make it look good (the bastiladon has a solar laser thing)
thanks to the painting pro who will show me the way, from a 14 year old with only desperation and no artistic talent (and an unstoppable bastiladon which will, in the near future stunn with its looks and giant laser!)

Welcome aboard! There are quite a few people who can advise you, just check out the painting and converting section. There's lots of advice and tips there

you could do a simplified turtle shell pattern, Kinda like this, but a lot simpler... and don't forget to use your washes.

Hello and welcome! Do you have any pictures of stuff you've previously painted? If not any ideas on a colour scheme you would like?

Everyone here is very helpful so I'm sure you'll get some good advice.

Welcome,

Start by deciding your colour scheme then base the model, wash the model all over with an appropriate wash then when dry take a lighter colour than your base and drybrush each area.

Drybrushing is where you load a brush usually a old one with the tip cut flat and wipe the paint onto a paper towel until no paint shows, then drush the area of the model with quick back and forth motion.

That will get you a decent looking Bassy, in fact look at my blog I did a write up on how I did mine, I drybrushed him so you can see the results.

Page 4&5 of my blog has the Bassy

They look great, although you have not washed or highlighted your base coat looks neat and that is a very good quality to have from the start.

Have a read through a couple of blogs or get on youtube and look at how to wash and highlight and I bet within weeks your turning out models you are pleased with, my first models were nothing like yours, mine were 2 colours max and looked like they were attacked by the blob.

Keep posting pics and we well help you the best we can ;)

These are looking good so far, a few touch ups like a wash and they will be excellent!

Thanks, I'm happy I found this site. It's better than any other sites of this type i've found.
Everyones freindly and supporting!
:)

The first model I ever painted was a Lord of the Rings Legolas, I'll see if I can find it :)
(I painted it when I was 11, it was my first table top gaming model)

Yes really a good start! Follow the instructions of master @Crowsfoot and the others and you'll soon have a collection of nicely painted models...

And try things! You have to find your way of painting... Don't give up if you tried something and it doesn't come out how you expect! By trial and error you will find out which effect you can achieve by which technique...

well welcome at least you were able to get into the hobby young I did not start till last year at 28 so ^_^ looking forward to seeing more of your work

Wow! That Legolas looks great! Brilliant job for 11 years old! Really good detail there!
