AoS Age of Sigmar Rumours - Mk II. (Our new name)

Completely new guy here,

As in "just-bought-a-battalion-and-glued-together-the-saurus-warriors" new.
Sleeper post! Welcome to L-O! We're always happy when a new member comes out of the shadows :)

And yes, don't be afraid of losing your lizardly support. We'll be here! Now get started on painting a model for the painting contest!!

Paintsumpthin' Scaly!

Back from the workshop, saw the new AoS models, they are big. 40k terminator size the Sigmarines. Got some info too, not sure if already said. *clears throat*
The rules that we got, those are rules. That is it, nothing else will be expanded on the rules. Instead we are getting expansion scenarios (similar to scenarios from The End Times)
For the whole no point system etc. Somehow the games balances itself, I saw a few games today and no matter what models are placed down. They can be killed one way or another, I can't remember how it is balanced fully.
That is all.
I'm off to put my Zombie Dragon together, being that anything goes. My first game will be with Lizardmen and when I get my dragons together, I will test a dragon army.

If that is the case this is the dumbest thing ever.
Its not a game anymore, its playing with toys.

What is the stimuli of putting random stuff on the table if it doesn't matter anyway?
How do you get good at a game that balances itself no matter what you do?

Sorry if I step over anybodys toes, but If this is it, it is a game for very simple people who likes to play rather than game.

I think there is that hidden tactics against certain models still lives, look at Lord Kroak as an example, try and wound him many times in one round will take some thought. Some models are still nasty as ever. Kairos Fateweaver and Screaming Bell combos are nasty, it would require quick tactics to take out the Bell first (If they roll 13 they insta win the game) Kairos can also affect the dice rolls so... yeah.
I need to get a fake beard so my boyfriend can't get extra rolls/ re-rolls on his dice. Pfft some of these rules are weird and funny at the same time.
So I think it just has a different approach to tactics compared to the 8th/ downwards editions.

The models still confuse me, but I saw three Iron Guts take down a Sisters of Twilight on dragon model. I need to play myself with multiple players to see how it does keep things 'balanced' I know someone who has a Bloodthirster, might chuck in buckets of Skinks and see what happens as an experiment.

The "13th roll" was an obvious joke, it's a shame that Kairos could make it valid - however, considering it's impossible to make a 2D6 = 13, and you wouldn't be able to select any number >12 in any other method, I think that such a tactic can be easily argued against.... even if the rules could hint at it being so -_-

I'd take a similar approach to cheering The Lady/comparing beards/coercing others to dance etc. They're an Easter Egg which should be ignored if playing 'seriously'.

Thanks man - I feel welcome!

I will be assembling some more units today. Anyone have any theories on what is preferable in AoS for skink equipment? I don't really know yet whether we will be playing 8th or AoS primarily, yet - but I've learnt that javelin + shields was pretty much the only way to go in 8th.

Right now I'm thinking Boltspitters because 16'' could be safe from most movement+charges and hand weapons because between ignoring rends of -1 and getting +2 on to wounds I'd choose the latter.

Saurus cavalry trade a 3+ on hit with blades to a 4+ and a fun special rule with lances - so I am sticking lances on those guys.

How big a unit because that affects things. If you can take a charge you might want to go with javelins for ranged since you can pin an enemy in combat if they charge you. You can also shoot in combat so I like the 4+ wound better.

Sotek damn it! The more I look at these warscrolls the less insane this whole thing is looking.
