So, I can assemble a carnosaur either with fn oldblood or scar-veteran. I want to go with the oldblood. But! I hate his spear. The way it looks. Can I build him with a sun-gauntlet but in right hand place a greatsword thet comes for a scar-veteran (see a pic)? Since on the box with saurus guard the same greatblades of theirs are called "polearms" in warscrolls? Please help!

i don't see why not kitbashing is a longstanding tradition in wargameing

Honestly, I just wouldn't say anything. If your opponent ask you just say; "I hated the look of the spear, but the Sunblood only has one weapon profile. If it is too confusing we can call a TO over and ask how they would like us to resolve this." And if you are just playing at the LGS and someone makes a fuss just don't play with that guy.

Also, there might be more of those persons at tournaments. If you mostly play with friends it shouldn't be an issue ever.

It is possible. I have never had anyone at tournaments for AoS push it. Normally there is just some guy in an LGS who is WAC and will be a stickler for those things despite not knowing their own rules or the core rules.

Competitive scenes tend to be were rules get lawyered. Plus, anyone acting like that in a LGS tends to run out of opponents who like to play with him quickly, whereas at a tournament your opponents can't as easily say "well he's a twat I don't wanne play with him anymore" so it's easier to get away with :p.

But yeah, all in all I wouldn't expect this to be a particularly big problem anywhere.

Yes, WYSIWYG could be a problem only in some tournaments, and even then it's not so enforced.
And if someone refuses to acknowledge such a minor thing, then he clearly deserves this:

I find most people don't want a bad sportsmanship score. It keeps a lot of players from just being asinine for the sake of it.
