Hello, I am new to AoS and wanted to start with a Seraphon Army for quite a time now. The release of the new battletome gave me the last missing bit of motivation and now I would like to start with an "Start Collecting" box. Is one of the both aviable boxes clearly better for a starter or is it just personal opinion and taste in models? I do not have a particular favorite between saurus and skinks ....
I have seen a great guide to get the most of the old starterbox - I suppose the new one can not compare to this value? In the longer run, I will most likely buy both, but I can not decide what to buy tomorrow :)

I would be glad to read your reasoning
(sorry for wonky english - I am not a native speaker)

do you perfer a skirmish or grinder play style?

I prefer a varied play style in my list :D But I am more of a "tricks" player then a "brute force" player in other tabletops (Cygnar, High Elves in Fantasy)
I will most likely still buy both boxes - but my budget allowes only one right away :) So my question is just about the starting experience.
I suppose you have no "anvil" unit in the skinks box - only skirmishers and ranged fighters - and the exact opposite in the saurus box :)

Honestly, I would get one of each box if want some variation. Saurus Knights & Warriors are both in a decent place atm. Terradons and Bastiladons will give you more reach might be easier to learn with due to their ranged damage.

The old SCbox is a bit more beginner friendly if you just want to run up table and hit things.

if your up for tricks and verity go skinks bastiladon is our only anvil(sort of) and teradons give you a few extra options as well

Get the skink box. The saurus box is good but only if you pickup 2 to round out the units. Plus everything in Skinks looks good where the saurus box has a carnosaur kit.

That implies the Carnosaur looks bad. Like what? Trouble with the Saurus box is that it has Saurus Warriors and Knights :p

Both boxes are pretty good for a double pickup right now. No price hike for the Saurus Box means it's still the best value for money Start Collecting pretty much ever. Bastiladon is workable for regular games, and Skinks and Terradons/Rippers are going to be a staple for Skink-based lists.

Opposite.

I have 1 gen-slann in the works & 1 kroak inbound. Should I get another Slann?

I suppose the only reason for it would be in Starborne, but I don't see myself playing them after I get used to some coalesced shenanigans...and while the whole "more than 1 spell for CCP" talk is settled.

Eh, I can’t think of a list where you would want 2 Slann instead of Kroak and a Slann. Kroak is such a house, I’m having a hard time not just auto including him in all of my lists.
