Greetings all!

I received my Slann Starmaster yesterday (yay!), so that will be my next painting project.

My questions is: What should be my next purchase? I have the 2 start collecting boxes and the slann, and I am doing a local GW event that goes 1000,1500, and 2000 points. I decided that I'm only buying 1 or 2 items at a time and painting them up before my next purchases (a lesson learned from 40k lol). So I'm looking at either:

Skinks
Bastiladon
2 Razordons
EoTG

Any thoughts and advice are appreciated as always. Cheers!

Two more Razordons would be useful. So would a Skink Starpriest. You can never go wrong with Ripperdactyls.

Thanks for the advice (as always). I actually made a skink starpriest doing a conversion with the start collecting box, I hadn't considered the rippers, would 3 rippers be viable, or do I need 6?

Cheers!

For smaller games a unit of three Ripperdactyls is totally viable.

The might not be the most fun guys to build or paint but I would recommend the skinks. They are the true backbone of the Seraphon!

Thanks for the reply! I'm definitely still considering, if I were to get skinks I'd get 2 boxes to have 40 at my disposal. Regarding skinks, are spitters or javelins the better option. Cheers!

Thanks very much, appreciate the advice! Now to decide... lol

1 box of skinks and 1 box of rippers will let you field a minimum size shadowstrike battalion.
EoG is good but if you don't have skinks or any fliers, so you will won't be able to make use of its summoning(assuming you are fielding the Saururs warriors you own as your battleline).

Razordons are supposed to be great but I can't bring myself to buy those resin models.

That could be a good idea, it fits with my self-imposed 1-2 boxes at a time, and gets me the battalion. Great advice, thanks very much! (I am not a fan of resin models; putting my Slann together the other day was frustrating! And I saw on another thread here a fellow whose razordon model had bad casting). Cheers!

Definitely boltspitters and shields. Ignoring -1 rend is cool for a model that costs 6 points per dude. And if you have 40 of them in a unit you get 3+to hit/5+ to wound at 16". Not bad at all. Play in the realm of fire and these become -1 rend when shooting over 12" range (realm rule). Not something to be sniffed at!

More razordons are and skinks always a good shout also maybe a box or two of ripperdactyls once you have the bits you want. They are great damage dealers!

Thanks for the tip!

We have our 1000 point get together at GW this weekend (still mulling my list since I got my Slann lol), I'm leaning towards skinks for the next GW event (1500 points), and then probably either 2 razordons or 2 boxes of rippers (for Shadowstrike) for the 2000 point event.

Thanks again, Cheers!

I love shadowstrike! You can have a decent competitive 1k list with it.

That said, do you have a skink starpriest? As I would totally recommend grabbing one!

Did someone say 1k Shadowstrike Starhost?

1000pt Shadowstrike Starhost

Allegiance: Seraphon

- Mortal Realm: Ghur

LEADERS:
Skink Starpriest
(80)
- General
- Command Trait : Master of Star Rituals
- Artefact : Gryph-feather Charm

UNITS:
6 x Ripperdactyl Riders (280)
40 x Skinks (240)
- Boltspitters & Star Bucklers
10 x Skinks (60)
- Meteoric Javelins & Star Bucklers
4 x Razordons (160)

BATTALIONS:
Shadowstrike Starhost
(180)

TOTAL: 1000/1000
EXTRA COMMAND POINTS:
1 WOUNDS: 84

This is the list I bring to 1k tournaments. It is extremely brutal, but fragile. Once you learn how to pilot it effectively it is in my experience nearly unbeatable.

The goal is simply and effective. Kill your opponents biggest threats with a devastating turn one. Use LoSaT to bring your Razordons into the fight and be positionally aggressive with your 40 man Skink unit from the onset.

With strong decision making you can gain an unbeatable lead on objectives by turn three while the opponent is picking themselves back up from your alpha strike. When games go to turn 5 I am almost always nearly tabled, but the early objective lead is enough to carry me through.

Note: Was edited for formatting purposes.

I made one from the 2 start collecting boxes I started with, which is what I decided to build and paint for the 1000 point day.

I made one from the start collecting boxes I started out with, so I'm goo there. I'm using my start collecting as my models for the 1000 point list, but now I have my Slann, so I'm re-thinking my list a bit. Here it is if you are interested.

Thanks very much, Cheers!
