Hey guys,

I am coming back to the warhammer world now that the Generals Handbook is coming out. My local store is mustering new armies to start of this glorious new age.

I have decided to start Seraphon, but I am at los what to buy and what has good synergies.

The rules for the muster are:
1 hero
1 infantry or cavalry unit
1 unit of any kind (could even be a hero)

Units I like visually:
Terradons
Carnosaur
Stegadon
Skinks
Bastilladon
All things skinks :P

I am not a fan of the Saurus Warrior model. So what are nice units to start with and have a good synergy? You don't have to chose from the list I like, but one unit like that would be awesome.

Please help me out because I can't see the forest because all the trees are in the way (dutch expression :P)

Cheers,
Xtoalz

Buy the starter set, build the carny and run the knights.

Will the carny be classed as your hero/other unit or just hero?

Carnosaur will be a Hero choice. I am not a fan of the saurus knights either...sorry, but those dinosaurs are hidious.

After some reading I am thinking of an eternity warden and some saurus guards

Go Eternity warden, guards and basilidon

How many guards are you allowed?

It goes by boxes, so if i buy one box i can play the box :p

I like @Crowsfoot suggestion, but jecause I like that playstyle, or since you are a skink guy, get a Starpriest, some skinks and rippers. When it escalates and you can have two units you're already set up for the Shadowstrike Starhost.

But seing as how you want to go defensive then yes, Warden, guard and Carnosaur for your first outing. You will need the attack power, and the command ability. Even if it is to give himself the extra attacks instead of the warden.

Bastilladon is also a good way to go! Great shooting and tough.

And if i want to go full skink (and slann) ?

Thanks Killer Angel,

But i bought the saurus guard just now with the eternity guard dude. Also a bastilladon.

Lets start glueing these and then we will see to go for skinks.

I definitely agree with your choices. I can understand if you don't like the knights or the warriors, but just to note the carnasaur alone is the same price as the carnasaur with the knights and some warriors if you wish to get a carnasaur.

Definately going to buy the Getting Started box, but reselling the knights for sure, maybe also the warriors :P

Might be better using your spare parts from your guards and converting the warriors, very simple to do just swap heads weapon arms and shields. ;)

I might be a bit late but I have to weigh in here. I recently took a new refreshing look at my old Lizardmen, or Seraphon as they now are called.

I plan on entering this turnament with my small Skink force that i have gathered, and I don't really see why it wouldn't work but I've never played it or AoS before so who knows.

Anyway I plan on running a list with:

2 units of skinks
1 Starpriest
1 Bastiladon
1 Stegadon
1 unit of Krox

For a total of 1000 points.

I intend to continue down the Skink only path, so no Saurus what so ever just for the fun of it and for my love for skinks.

Furthermore I see two ways of running skink armies:

1: Beast heavy army. Skinks are supposed to be annoying while you run behemoths and krox at the opponents face.

2: Glass Cannon-ish with loads of skinks, salamanders and flyers. Hopefully you will have too many units for the opponents to handle, giving you an egde at the objectives.

My final words is that if you really like skinks then go for them! I did once and never regret my decision even though my competetive gaming options might be limited.

I just bought a Stegadon for shits and giggles. So going towards more skinks as we know. Big chance that I am going to buy skinks as well.

Now I need to choose which stegadon to assemble. I like the idea of the normal one with an Alpha on it with the Sunfire Throwers. The Engine of the gods is to random I think. What are your thoughts?

You can make the engine stable if you have a slann, and a starseer.

I prefer the sunfire thrower stegadon because it deals with hordes really well

i roll that. the warden really helps the guard with the extra attack and save. keep him in behind them and roll a basty on the flank for tankyness and long range shooting.
only problem is the lack of a command ability.

Run a sunblood to give the guard block free hit rerolls
