What are you doing today hobbywise?

My good friend and recently-returned gaming opponent kindly gave me some sprues for the old Chaos Marauders he had picked up once for a project but never progressed further with for Christmas, so I have been making some extra Ungors out of them :D. If anyone wants a cloven hoof sculpted, I'm your goat :cool:

Finally finished re-modelling the craft room.
Lots more space. I'll be able to do a couple of projects at once now. Room for my airbrush setup as well.

I did something I should have done a while ago. I organized and began counting how many Orks I have. This would have been useful to do BEFORE I ordered what turned out to be my FOURTH Deff Dread... :facepalm: Not an issue in friendly games or really BIG ones, but, well... :meh:
 
So I'm starting to organize the Dogs of War... lots of them. Sadly the Republican Guard were bought cheap and lack their pike. The former owner was going to put halberds on them. I have some brass pike but the sculpting of hands will be annoying. 24 painted Alcanti is great, the different basing from the rest of the army is less than ideal and finding 22 more unpainted is...awesome while frustrating. I once had some Republican guard with broken pikes. So I started pinning and gluing axe heads on to make alternate "Greatswords". If I remember right, the fluff was that they were the Hochland equivalent of Greatswords, wielding axes instead in reference to the heavily wooded nature of Hochland.

Empire Online had an army that used them with halberd so as to be Black Pass guard. Beautiful work and if I had more I'd be tempted to do that for myself as well.

Usually Tau tend to avoid defensive battles against Nids, they like to use movement and maneuvering to inflict damage and negate direct contact.

However, this is a planatery system populated by allies (kroot and vespids), there are millions of civilians to be evacuated, so (despite the fact that the worlds are condemned) Tau are forced to fight, employing mostly battlesuit to avoid risking too lives, to buy precious time for the evacuation fleet.

I'm gonna play a large Kroot / vespids force with some Tau, my friend will go full Tau.
There will be an "airport" that is our base objective, to be defended at all costs, plus other objectives that represent key points of the defensive network.
