What are you doing today hobbywise?

On tonight's "What Are You Doing Today Hobbywise" -

I paint horses.
3d Printer goes BRRRRR
The neighbour rings my doorbell wondering what that BRRR sound is.

Serious answer: painting my knight's horses, while I continue to test and refine my 3d printer skills by printing up some scenery set to a theme that my local hobby store's owner challenged me to do.

And yes, the neighbour did ask about the "buzzing" sound. Fortunately, I am now printing at slower speeds, and worked out that the backend fan isn't needed, at least not for the moment and not at full blast... so I have managed to tone down the BRRR from "Jet Turbine" to "vacuum cleaner in the background".

That kinda speaks fot itself...

These are cool. Kind of a war-of-the-worlds thing

except they don't suffer from earth viruses/bacteria :D

Between the Triarch Stalker (Heat Ray, anybody?) and the more recent Canoptek Reanimator and Doomstalker (Hell, even Canoptek Spyders could count as Handling Machines), Necrons have a lot of War of the Worlds goodness embedded into their army structure (another reason why I love them so much).

I have two Spyders, a Stalker and a Reanimator, just need to get a Doomstalker now to complete my invasion force...

I can field a whole "insectoid" themed necron army. ;)

...I ordered Orlocks. One gang, one quad bike (ebay find), and one of the weapon options packs... for a conversion that may or may not turn out, but I'm going to try it anyway.

Bought 3 of the Cursed City undead ogres for use as Animated Hulks in the zombie pirate army. Going to swap weapon heads to give them more of a undead whaler feel. So if anyone has some suggestions for what to use as a harpoon head and gaffing hooks let me know. Also bought some miniatures from Reaper to be used as bloated corpses and scurvy dogs.

Okay... got my Orlocks. Now waiting for a box of Arbites and a box of Palanites... and then we'll be cookin...

Printing rail tracks and eventually a steam locomotive for some Age of Sigmar terrain. I fully plan to have a trio of Duardin as driver, fireman and conductor.

My friend challenged me to do wild west styled terrain, and what is more wild west than a good ol' fashioned steam train, trekking its way across Ghyran.

Also in the background, doing some preliminary work on mapping out "The Peninsula", which will be the local group's personal slice of The Realms where we can actually have narrative battles and campaigns and consequences that matter to us as opposed to the official lore where some place that we don't care about falls or manages to fend off the latest invasion.

Epic-scale figures? Or just small 28mm Lizardmen for your Guns of Sotek army?
Yeah, it was some cold-one cavelry. I've got the new accessories 3D modeled and I've sent them off to my friend for printing. So hopefully I have some much more consistent explosive lances. I should make my GoS stuff public at some point, in case anyone else is lunitic enough to do their own 40k lizards :P

At the weekend I aquired two more tanks from a friendo so I have been cleaning and prepping the parts. It might be fun to have them ready for the end of the week when I have another game planned. Its a Hydra/Wyvern and another Leman Russ (I have 4 already!)

I have started a stupidish new project. I've been wanting to do something with the Necromunda Palanites and the new Arbites minis for a while, but wasn't sure what exactly to do. Recently, however, I had a dumb thought. I have a lot of spare heads for Frostgrave Gnolls, as well as other damaged canine models from other projects...
The Imperium of Man is kind of known for doing... questionable things in the name of itself... so in the spirit of Rifts, why wouldn't they make other abhumans than the ones already in the various codecies and lore? Like, say...
Dogboys...

Meet Frizty and Mungo, my first two Inquisitoral Agents. Fritzy has a percussion hammer for bashing in doors (eviscerator) and Mungo hefts a multi-melta (servitor stand-in), as part of my Inquisitoral/Arbites joint task force.

He doesn't NEED a hammer to bash in doors, he IS a hammer. In my headcanon, he challenges Goliath gangers to arm wrestling contests and wins.

You had better give them tails too!

20250406_171706.jpgFor years I've been looking for this Carmen Miranda head in my storage. Was digging through a completely unrelated box and there it was! Celebrating right now as I will be decapitation one of my Bone Giants to upgrade it. Now if I could only find my Skarsnik head that I'm missing...

I remember that head. Never heard it called a Carmen Miranda head before though. I have to say, that is some interesting 'fruit' you've got on that hat! :D
