What are you doing today hobbywise?

Slightly off-topic, but I played against Stormcast yesterday, and predictably lost because my army is nowhere near competitive, but my loathing for the Goldmarines has only intensified, for example:

That's on the Knight-Heraldor (100pts). Somebody actually looked at that thing and decided it was balanced. It's not a spell so it can't be dispelled, there's no success roll required, it doesn't affect friendly units, it has unlimited uses.

What the fuck.

There are several similar abilities for the SCE. It is quite ridiculous, especially for small armies.
It is _kinda_ balanced in bigger games, but yeah, I know that feeling.

It just ruined the game for me really - armies need to have something going for them, some theme or motif, some set of strengths and weaknesses that define them from other factions, fine, but the Stormcast just seem to have this endless sleeve of obscene abilities that come up in almost any situation, like they let some kid call the shots on their favourite faction and we got some horrible DeviantArt fanfic out of it.

When my buddy started playing them I was also concerned, especially about some of the seemingly OP heroes they have. The Lord Celestant on Dracoth and the Celestant Prime gave me nightmares.
But I powered through, and learned to face them. See them as a challenge and work on a list that can wipe the floor with them.
SCE are good, even very good when your opponent plays one of their better lists, but they aren't unbeatable.
As soon as I had figured out what to do against those particular lists I faced, they lost their effect on me for the most part and I could have fun again.

Painfully cleaned, pinned, assembled and gapfilled the troggoth hag

I also picked up the 2019 General's Handbook for AoS before returning home to start painting my skaven BloodBowl team with some contrast paints.
More modelling of BloodBowl Skaven, this time reflecting a mutation my thrower received. I spent the evening pinning and securing a second pair of arms from the plastic kit to the Forgeworld resin model with no need for putty work.

I also built a rat ogre that's since been added to my initial roster.

Saturday evening i did some painting:
Did start the decoration of the Carnosaur Throne and started painting the Scar-Veteran.

Finally painted up the thrower for my BloodBowl team, which I've named the "Grey Coast Scuttlers". Since neither my local GW nor the Canadian webstore have pots of Wraithbone in stock, this is about as far as I'll be able to go with contrast paints.

Looking pretty good!
So you just primed it with a normal white?

I am going to try that, too.
To clarify, the model was spray-primed using Wraithbone, not Corax White, due in large part to the former providing a much smoother base coat which is desirable when working with contrast paints (Grey Seer is also formulated for this as the "colder" white base). As I've mentioned elsewhere however, the contrast paints are something of a candy coat, thus necessitating a lighter base to begin with.

Ah, ok. Missed that.

Unfortunately I couldn't get any of the new primers, but since I am using white primer anyway I'll try and see how it works. You might actually be fine with any sufficiently bright, smooth, and neutral primer. Light grey or white.

Went out today, only positive thing I came across

Problem is I am not that familiar with the Warmaster stuff, are these counters or something? A lot of dead ones and a footprint

Nearly close to quite nearly getting towards the end of the final stage of completing my Stegadon........

Should be done by 2027.

Worldbuilding for the D&D group I'm DMing. :)

And watering the garden!

Revisiting an old model that's been sitting around, need this guy finished and painted. Can't really paint much at the moment, desk is covered from where I am working on my sister's gift.

Putting some more paint on my underwater vulturax. At my current pace it will only take a few more weeks to get it finished...
