Warhammer Meme thread

I thought it looked more like an Emperor outfit or a Custodes.

As @NIGHTBRINGER said, that's not a mere space marine... ;)

Bah.

I have very little interest in 40K Space Marines at the moment, so you'll have to forgive not being up on the gen on this.

I quite liked them when I started in the '90's but the interest has kind of fizzled out since then.

I have a few squads of Marines as well, but they're Firstborn, none of this Primaris nonsense. I use them in good old 5th and 6th Edition sometimes (though not nearly as often as my Tyranids, Necrons or Orks).

For the record, I have a huge softspot for the Space Wolves and always have done since seeing their army back in the '90's and seeing these dudes:

Back in the days when the far futher wasn't that dark amd grim yet ;)

I love the space wolves as well, for their Viking esthetics.

Grrr, Imrahil

The Space Wolves are great, Vikings are awesome, wolves are awesome, so both of these in space is doubly awesome! Space Wolves were one of the two armies I considered starting when was first planning to get into 40K, alongside Tyranids, but it was the Tyranids I ended up receiving for Christmas so I went down the Xenos route. I don't regret it at all, but I still have retained an almighty respect for the Sons of Russ ever since.

A couple of years later when I received my Marines second-hand, I would have painted them up as Space Wolves were it not for one of them being a particularly great-looking old Ultramarines Captain in a Centurion helmet and wielding a short Gladius-style power sword, which I'm sure was put up in Made to Order not that long ago, so I went down the Space Roman route instead.

That's my stance on space wolves

I like that bit of their lore actually, it means they aren't perfect and have been regretting their mistake ever since. It also gives you a reason to sympathise with the Thousand Sons, who were trying to warn Emprah psychically and what does he do in return? Send in the Wolves to destroy all their libraries and works. Good job Imperium :p

The Emperor never told anything about his grand scheme to his sons. He looked at them as intelligent tools, that were expected to adhere to the plan without asking, he never truly considered them as equals.
By lore, his immense ego was his only real weakness, and it would have been his downfall.

Funnily enough, very much like Palpatine treating his apprentices in the same way.

but they're Firstborn, none of this Primaris nonsense.
Are you against the Primaris sculpts themselves or the fact that they set up as an alternate Space Marine faction? Would you still be opposed to Primaris if they had been released as simply new Space Marine sculpts?

I'm against the fact that they were a deliberate alternative Space Marine army that will likely replace Firstborn in time, created just to make them 'more elite' to make them more like Stormcast, when Space Marines were fine as a jack-of-all-trades force with a smattering of quality over quantity, as Firstborn were. The sculpts themselves aren't too bad, particularly the new helmet design looks good. It would have been much better if they had just been new sculpts for Firstborn Marines (though unnecessary given the Firstborn already had a new Tactical Squad kit in 2013 that was an improvement enough over its predecessor sets to stand the test of time).

I have no doubt. For once, we are in complete agreement... the original Space Marines have their days numbered.

I think they are far better proportioned than the originals. Not that I have any interest in purchasing either... or anything 40k for that matter.
