Blog Warden's Other Paint Log

Thanks all! And @JTSleep for the pile of likes!

...also finished some Castellax robots to add some variety to my heresy force. They are Iron Hands after all, so they definitely have a bunch of robots lying around in the legion storage lockers.

They are dreadnought-base sized, nice to have some more walkers walking around. Need to work on some other dreadnoughts!

Had fun taking pictures of my legion Esoterist!

I also was experimenting using different color lights to take photos, came out pretty cool!

Lore for this guy us he is a secret Alpha Legion infiltrator who has gained the ear of the warband's Iron Father. Exactly how his manipulations will bear fruit remain yet to be seen...

Very cool pictures!

Wow its the last day of the year over here in Minnesota, hard to believe as 2025 was both tough and flew by.

Very happy with my hobby progress, I painted a lot of stuff that I had lying around from 2024, and bought a bunch of new stuff at Adepticon this year (that I still have to work through!).

warden20251231_hobby progress for 2025 01.jpg

warden20251231_hobby progress for 2025 03.jpg

In total I painted 245 minis and pieces of terrain. Didn't photograph the terrain this year (and forgot one infinity robot ) but the minis look great!

Projects included:
  • Infinity Nomads/Xmen, Aleph, and Haqqislam
  • Turnip28 Frostgrave Warband
  • War of the False Primarch Flesh Eaters, Jade Talons, Iron Guard, and some Imperial Guard
  • Necromunda Ice Squats
  • 30k Sons of Medusa/Harbingers of Taelus

The game matt is one of my Christmas presents :couchpotato: very cool cyberpunk-Infinity game matt.

Lots of proto-Sons of Medusa for 30k this year:

Many more projects- Turnip28, Infinity, and War of the False Primarch.

The Flesh Eaters were one of the coolest things I worked on this year, really enjoyed weathering these guys.

warden20251231_hobby progress for 2025 09.jpg

And my growing Infinity Nomads/X-Men force, of which I have plans to paint more this upcoming year.

warden20251231_hobby progress for 2025 11.jpg

I also got these two Maghariba Guards completed, after having them sitting in my pile of shame for two years. Glad they are done, and I have been enjoying taking them to games!

Bonus photo of some overly-photogenic Ice Squats!:

Glad to have made it this far.

These pictures mean a lot to me this year as even though the past few weeks (today in particular) have been challenging, I decided to rope by 6-year-old along with helping me photograph these minis this year. She was SUPER excited and came over to help me line them all up, then grabbed her ipad to take pictures. And you know what?! Some of the picture she took turned out better than mine! A bunch of the ones I posted above were hers, along with this last one. She did a great job, I hope we can hobby or game more together in the future.

While the entire family has been battered down by Nurgle in the last two weeks of the year, here is to a good 2026!

Oh yeah and before I forget, here were the last minis I painted in 2025, some Infinity nomads!

Mr. Sinister (converted Posthuman to use as an HVT):

Meteor Zond, one of my favorite minis of the year:

With his two robot buddies:

And last mini for 2025, a tiny Tinbot in the fashion of my favorite X-Man:

Thanks so much! Got a few more red caps to paint, but I finished a few infinity minis in the meantime.

Cyclops- made from an Infinity Interventor Hacker-

warden20260208_infinity_cyclops 2.jpg

warden20260208_infinity_cyclops 3.jpg

Entire Interventor unit, along with Rogue previously painted, and some Fastpanda deployables:

warden20260208_infinity_cyclops 4 and rogue interventors.jpg

Jean Gray, made from character hacker/engineer Zoe, also from the Nomads range:

warden20260208_infinity_jean gray 7 and cyclops.jpg

...and here is a Sentinel, inspired by the Mystique-Sentinnels from the X-Men Days of Future Past movie. Made from an Infinity Hollowmen model (who have some truly terrifying in-game lore:

warden20260208_infinity_mystique sentinnel 1.jpg

And the other three X-men/infinity minis I painted.

Deadpool- not technically an x-man but it was a good use of the Senor Massacre mini:

warden20260208_infinity_deadpool 2.jpg
warden20260208_infinity_deadpool 3.jpg

warden20260208_infinity_deadpool 4.jpg

Gambit- made from the newer Father Lucian Sforza mini and a head taken from the Aristeia Maximus mini... his head is way too big but it matches the look I was going for :D

warden20260208_infinity_gambit 1.jpg
warden20260208_infinity_gambit 3.jpg

Gambit and Deadpool:

warden20260208_infinity_gambit 4 and deadpool.jpg

And lastly an obscure x-men named Xorn. Painted using a mini from the Yu Jing line, really wanted a few more crazy koala deployables.

warden20260208_infinity_xorn 1.jpg
warden20260208_infinity_xorn 2.jpg

All six recent minis:

warden20260208_infinity_xmen.jpg

All are nicely painted and in first look, I would have not guessed they are not official x-men, Great job.

Xorn gives me strong Garrus Vakarian vibe :)

i'd say your work really does him justice.

Thanks! @JTSleep that alien is not far off from the artwork I used as a reference photo!:

++++++++++++++

Happy Valentines Day fellow lizards, yesterday was quite production over here. I got some work done on some tiki-inspired terrain for my Warcrow Red Caps!
Made a few pieces of palm tree and scatter terrain. Pre painting:

warden20260208_red caps tiki terrain WIP 1.jpg

After adding sand and painting:

warden20260213_red caps tiki terrain WIP 2.jpg

Plus last night I used the giant wad of play-doh my toddler left on the floor and used it to throw these two volcanoes together.

warden20260213_red caps tiki terrain WIP 3 volcanoes.jpg

Obviously not painted yet :artist::D but since yesterday they have cracked a bit, will see if this idea still works or if I need to sub in a new material for the shell.

The interior is rolled up aluminum foil on a cardboard sheet base.

Here are some completed photos of the palm trees:

And the tiki-idol heads inspired by the red caps colors:

warden20260213_red caps tiki terrain 02 tiki heads.jpg

And my favorite- the tiki sign!!!

warden20260213_red caps tiki terrain 03 tiki sign.jpg

Of course I spelt Mordheim wrong :banghead::joyful:

Finished a few more red caps last weekend for Warcrow!

Stompers with their stilts-

warden20260222_red caps stompers 1.jpg
warden20260222_red caps stompers 2.jpg

And another small piece of terrain, a sweating-skull :Do_O

warden20260222_red caps stompers 3.jpg

Red Cap Bugbowls- who seem very acrobatic and are using each other to launch across the battlefield-

warden20260222_red caps bugbowls 1.jpg
warden20260222_red caps bugbowls 2.jpg

I added some tiny marine-life elements to "beach" up their bases a bit more. Best $1.49 I ever spent at an arts and crafts store :greedy:

warden20260222_red caps bugbowls 3.jpg

And three (technically nine) Gobblers, little slingshot buggers-

warden20260222_red caps gobblers 1.jpg
warden20260222_red caps gobblers 2.jpg

The skull-rock stack is another new terrain piece.

Very lovely work!! I dig the beach bases very much.
The contrast of the light sand and water with the dark red and black makes them really stand out.

Great work

Grrr, !mrahil

Those are neat, especially with that tropical theme!
