Ok so how does this work?

Wandering Deliverations, we know every single spell from the brb as well as the end of times signature spells? This is awesome! Is that how it is or Am I reading it wrong?


Focus mistery: when you change a spell from high magic you inmidiatly learn all spells from the other lore as well as recover your old high magic spell? If so, this becomes an extremely powerfull lore atribute!


Also not having to worry about losibg concentration and being able to cast 8 spells wich your enemy cant dispell sounds preaty good to me! If to that you add an engine of the gods for reducibg casting value and tetto for retroling ones! We might be getting into something good!


Am I reafing this rules correctly or am I just day dreaming? Let me know!

WD doesn't give access to the lores, just the signatures. You don't get to roll/pick spells, you just get a specific spell from each lore, which isn't enough - otherwise, Ruby Ring would give you access to the entirety of the lore of fire as well, which is doesn't.

Contemplations is another matter, because it technically does give you access to another lore, similar to how nagash has full access to his 3.

Not entirely sure how I'd play it, honestly. Maybe we'll get an FAQ related to our lore attribute to clear it up.

And that might actually just happen, since they seem to prioritice the End Times FAQs far more than anything else these days.

From page 8 of the Khaine rules book: "Wizards that do not generate spells following the normal rules (such as Loremasters of Hoeth, for example), use their special rules to generate their spells, but will know all of the spells from each spell lore that they can use any spells from."

The italics are from the book. AFAIK Loremasters are like our wandering deliberations, but are level 2 wizards. I think it is clear that WD slann will get all the spells, including the End Times spells since they are level 4 wizards.

Just because a character has a ruby ring of ruin, it does not make them a wizard, so they should not receive all the spells from the lore of fire.

I meant wizards with ruby ring of ruin though, I just forgot to actually write that. Though you probably still wont get access to the entirety of lore of fire, even if they have access to the spell.

This is awesome!! Now the slans got powerfull again! And using focus mistery is also great since the new lore ateibute is absurd and just bu casting a spell you get acces to another compleate lore, and you regain your previous spell this is going to be fun yo try out

But why bother with dual slann at this point? You have all of the spells ever, minus high. I mean, I guess you can take a slann with WD and one that takes high (no point buying loremaster), but really, since you don't lose concentration anymore, why bother?

There is a point to getting Loremaster High Magic.
Re-rolling all failed casting rolls for High Magic.

End Times made Loremaster so much more effective than it was.

After reading over the magic rules in the Khaine book, I don't think it's quite as good as we hoped, but still extremely powerful. First, yes, Wandering Deliberations Slann is now hideously powerful. I'll have to take a long look at some builds, but I suspect that a WD Slann with the +1 to cast and dispel and a obsidian talisman for MR will be very powerful. I need to look at what other disciplines would help out.

Second, at least to me, it doesn't seem that we get to know all the spells in the lore when we swap out. The "know all spells in the lore" only works when you are generating spells at the beginning of the game. (This also prevents issues with things like rolling a 10-12 on the miscast table.)

Also, it looks to me like a lot of the stuff in End Times magic is brought over from the Storm of Magic book. I believe all the spells are from there as is the 4d6 power dice pool.

Yeah my initial enthusiasm is dying a bit because the combos are just so crazy in the BRB lores. Hoping to have my first game on the 13th but at 2500 points I'll only be bringing a WD Slann. Kind of was liking the idea of summoning my Tomb Kings to the table however.

=> Maybe, but I wouldn't get too use to it. My belief (just an opinion) is that even though the concepts and mechanics of End Times will be in place in 9th, a lot of details will change.

For instance, I think we may see there being only one lore of Battle Magic, with maybe a dozen spells in in.

Lots of little stuff like that seems likely to change. Sure, have a blast for the next 6 months with all the mis-matched rules (I don't mean that in a bad way), but expect things to fall in line post-9th.

I've only just started using dual Slann and been really enjoying it; it's a shame this change has come about so quickly, because as another poster suggested, I can't see the justification for using two anymore. Oh well, that'll save me 350 points for more Scar-Vets I guess.

Just finished a two game run with a wd slann. One 1000 point and one 2000 point (with high elves).

It was the most horrific thing I've ever done. Multi cast banishment onto eppidemus(sp?) And a unit of plague bearers and wiped them off the board in the first turn.
