7th Ed. Updated 2k list

I have changed my 2k carnosaur list a little bit, mostly to fit in the terradons and salamander. I'm a bit happier with this version than the last, still tossing up between carnosaur and Slann though.

Old blood, general, carnosaur, light armour, scimitar of the sun, maiming shield

Priest, level 2, engine, scroll, diadem

18 saurus, spears, standard, musician

10 skink skirmishers

10 ranked skinks

18 Temple Guard, standard, musician

stegadon

4 terradons

salamander, extra crew


Thoughts?

I think those Temple Guard could easily be swapped for more spear saurus, as I don't think they become worth it until they are stubborn and ItP. Solid anvil they are, but with the points saved you could throw in another support unit like some more ranked skinks. Otherwise looks good. 2 hammers, 2 anvils, and some support. I guess I consider EotG as a support unit, but a very good one that can join the melee in a pinch.

That and of course I like the BoR and Enchanted shield better, but to each his own. I don't know if I like the OB with only a 2+ armor save, but I guess with that setup he will be a unit flanker anyway instead of a "big nasty" killer.

Yeah it is a bit of a toss up between setups for the old blood, I will have to try him a few times and see how he goes. I may end up switching for the BoR. I think with T5 a 2+ armour save is enough, especially when the opponent is contending with his 8/9 attacks and the carnosaurs attacks.

As for the Temple Guard, they are a good bit tougher than saurus and hit a bit harder plus have that crucial WS4 which I like. Another one that I will have to try and see what happens. It is 100 points I could save by downgrading them. Of course a big part of the reason I have them is because I really like the models..

I was just about to do the Daemon book for "Battle of the Oldbloods". Too bad my computer totally crashed that had my damage calc spreadsheet on it. Power supply shorted out/caught on fire, which made for a very comical scene I can tell you. Hopefully when I get a replacement comp I can salvage the hard drive. Oh well, provides an excuse to get a new computer.

Wow, 100 points saved for TG -> Saurus. Well, they are a pretty solid anvil I suppose, but if you use their halberds they only have 4+ armor... most times I'd probably opt for the 2+ armor instead, assuming the enemy only dares to charge them with things that have some good killing power. Str5 2 attack infantry is pretty nice though. Dang, I just thought of another thing to run through the damage calculator.

10 str 5 attacks at WS4 vs 20 str 4 attacks at WS3. Damage vs. different stuff would be interesting. Alas...

It would be 80 points diff though, the temple guard have the warbanner. I just noticed I forgot to put that in my first post.

Maybe I could drop the TG down to a smaller support unit size and try to fit more Saurus in... Could be worth it.

It has been a while since we have had a battle of the old bloods, sucks to hear your computer kicked the bucket.. Did chaos mortals get done? I don't remember.

I was working on the Warriors of Chaos and almost had it done as number 4. Then I realized my % chance to kill formula was wrong, and before that got fixed, well, explosion happened. New comp ordered, should arrive in a month or so. Gonna have a ATI HD 4870 card, so hopefully I can tear myself away from staring at all the pretty pictures long enough to get some mathhammer done.

Don't get the bonus for being mounted if it is not a cav model. So OB is 4+, 3+ with light armor, 2+ with Maiming Shield.
