Re: Two different 3500 point lists for friendly game against

List one:

- like the character setup, especially that oldblood - mean combo!

- core, saurus hordes? Cohort, poison attacks seem a bit pricey. Probably could use another 1-2 units of skirmishers imo

- Chamos, 2 units would be better no? Swarms, only need 1 unit? Stegadon, would be better upgraded to an ancient?

- seem bad on paper, but maybe a troglodon would be good with all the saurus blocks?

List two:

- always seem fragile with no slann. I'd probably drop the razordons and mount up the scar vet on another carnosaur

- for the oldblood, i'm not sure of the need for defensive items as most of the time people will attack the carnosaur anyway. Either that or go the whole hog and get crown of command in there to keep at least the general in play!

tbh, not used to playing as much as 3500, let us know how it goes!

My old favorite! After trying it once, I started putting that guy in all my lists

I figured with four magic missiles I don't need much Skink shooting except for the trolls my friend is fond of (that's what the Fireleeches are for). I find a cohort of 20 Skinks helps me a lot more often than not, even without a watchtower the most common terrain piece is a building and a garrisoned Skink cohort is very hard to dislodge. The poisoned attacks were an afterthought, I wasn't sure what else to do with the 40 points.

- Chamos, 2 units would be better no? Swarms, only need 1 unit? Stegadon, would be better upgraded to an ancient?

One of Chamos since I'll consider myself lucky if an O&G army with 3500 gives me space to drop one Scout, let alone two. I thought the conventional wisdom on the forum was if you were taking an Ark of Sotek to take at least two Swarms? The Stegadon was a concession to points, and I figured I'd probably be sending my Steggy into a block of goblins anyway. Ancient Stegadons are more of an orc smasher.

- seem bad on paper, but maybe a troglodon would be good with all the saurus blocks?

That's the idea, maybe give a Mangler Squig or Fanatic an acid bath shooting over a Saurus block. Also, I'm a contrarian (I took Razordons fairly often in the last book). Everyone says Troglodons are a subpar unit and I am aching to try it. I also figure it will work well with a WD Slann.
List two:

I only have one Carnosaur. Razordons are there to impale spider or wolf riders or whatever other mobile chaff my friend brings.

- for the oldblood, i'm not sure of the need for defensive items as most of the time people will attack the carnosaur anyway. Either that or go the whole hog and get crown of command in there to keep at least the general in play!

I figured the magic resistance would work well since it carries over to the mount. Then I considered your point and realized that there really aren't any spells in the Big or Little Waagh that can seriously threaten a Carnosaur. I suppose swapping the Lodestone for a Crown of Command makes sense.

tbh, not used to playing as much as 3500, let us know how it goes!

For what it's worth I have a few weeks to ponder this. We have never played a game this big before, but we've played a lot of games and his lists have strong similariies. He usually takes a big unit of Savage Orcs and a unit of Night Goblins. He ALWAYS takes a Mangler Squig and just bought a second one so he might bring both. I can be 99% certain he'll bring an orc chariot, some wolf riders, or some spider riders if not all of the above. Trolls and giants are a near certainty. Some combination of Doom Divers, Rock Lobbas, and Spear Chukkas is likely. I'm going to guess with this high points level he'll blow the dust off one or more of his least favorite units just for experimental purposes and surprise with me something new, though he clearly favors a small subset of units his collection of O&G is huge.
