Great game on the weekend, I hadn't played in a while but our new army list got me interested again. I went with an loaded up Slann (no wand of jet) and a big TG bunker. 2 units of Skroxigor (20/2). 2 priests. Trog. And a old blood carno!

My opponent was mainly Slaanesh with a bit of Tzeentch.

It was a King of the Hill, which really suited me having nearly 1000 points in a single unit! However I did not get first turn, so he claimed the first 300 before I could get onto it.

Deployment and Turn 1
I am usually proud of deployment but I think he out deployed me. It was clear my right flank would get crushed by the keeper and cav, and whilst I would dominate the centre, I doubted I could hold my baggage train from the light cav on the left

Now, on my turn 1 magic phase I potentially saved the game. I took illusion as my complaints about casting range might be mitigated by arcane vassel. But I got column of crystal off, it was not dispelled for the game. It prevented the Keeper from hitting my flank for an entire turn, furthermore it prevented one unit of heavy cav for nearly the whole game.

Turn 2
He charged my TG with his cav, but we easily fought him off, but we couldn't pursue into his core brick. My Carnosaur hit them in my turn, we lost by 1 combat res, and it created a weird situation in the middle

Turn 3

The Keeper crushes the Trog (forgot he had TOP, doh) and in the middle his daemons prove very resilient against carnosaur, TG and kroxigor. Yes, it was clear we would win but damn it took some time.

On the left, the pink horrors shooting was too much for the Kroxigor, and by the time we got into combat we didnt have enough to take them out. Another 5-10 skinks and it would have been fine. And yes, I got my baggage train.

Turn 4
We eventually get on top in the middle, and his keeper wipes on my last unit of Skroxigor. My carnosaur takes out his heavy cav.

Turn 5
We face each other and get prepped in case there is a turn 6 - but there is not. This really suits me. Yes, I would get another 200 VP of King of the Hill, but his Keeper was about to charge my carnosaur. We rolled off anyway, and at the end of two rounds of combat, the Carnosaur is on 1 wound and the Keeper is on 2. However, only because the slann dispelled spectral doggleganger! Likely if the was there was a turn 7 we would go down. But that TG brick (along with glittering robe) was going to be hard to beat.

Overall
Illusion is not that good for us, but damn if Column of Crystal may have won me that game. Renegades 1.5.2 is great. And there is not much better than two fully painted armies going at it!

Interesting and nice armies on both sides! How many points did you play? 1500? 2000?
It feels you have few units.

What's you consideration about cohort and troglodon?
Troglodon is probably much more playable now, and it's interesting to be loadable (what did you had on it?) However I'll probably prefer a skink on stegadon even if much more expensive. The ward save 6+ is too good as well the 360 degree casting.

I tested cohort yesterday, 16+2. Wasn't bad at all and cheaper than saurus, I am now interested to test both 10/1 and 24-25/3. (25 to get in marching column). Kroxigor aren't the best but the extra CR is really usefull and skinks quite resistant with As 4+ and maybe Ws 6+.
