7th Ed. Tournament List 1st time making Lizardmen

Hey all this is my list I just got the book, so sorry if I did something Illegal or something, what my list has is what I got, and I don't want to buy a whole bunch more cause of the amount I bought already. Here is the list:
Lord:

Slann Mage Priest lvl 4 4 Disciplines of the Ancients, Diadem of Power, BSB
Divine Plague of Protection= 505
Unfathomable Presence
Focus of Mystery
The Harrowing Srutiny
The Focused Rumination

Heros:

Skink Priest, Anceint Stegedon, Plague of Tepok, lvl 2, Dispell Scroll= 430

Scar vet, Sword of the Hornet, Light armor, shield= 108

Core
1x20 Saurus warriors w/ Spears full command= 270
1x15 Saurus Warriors w/ Spears Full command= 210
1x15 Skink Skrimishers brave= 111

Special:
1x20 Temple Guard Full command Rod of Storm= 380
1x5 Cold One Cavalry full comand= 225

PD: 2+7=9
DD 2+3= 5
Dispell Scroll
Bound spell
Models: 78

Please Don't leave bad comments just helpful ones. I know I don't have rare or Salamanders because I want to have good Painting comp and other good points, so I don't want to Proxy. Please tell me what you think.

hmmm, first of all: how many pts are you aiming for?

second, you can't give rod of storms to a TG unit( 'couse it's a arcane item) BRB under magicitems some place..)

and third: I understand you would like to only use the figures you got so, with that in mind, I would make a smaller army:

Drop your slann to 2(max 3) diciplines, TG unit to 16 and your 20 saurus block down to 15.

hopefully you can get your army closer to 2000 or at least 2250 pts. But I don't know how strong this army would be though..
It lacks harrazment, flank protectors and more skirmishers... If you this many models, but only 15 skinks, that would be what you would want next.

Ok showed my list to friend its a 2250 list and its 2239, also I Would have to buy another box of Saurus warriors to get the 15 and the Scar vet. Don't want to proxy and models. Last time I had a army that I did some converting and some Proxies I won most of my games and got 13th place or 10th, outa like 20 or so, and I got my score down cause of my models. Also I bought the Battlion and temple guard box steggadon and Slann, so all these models I just got. Just want to make a list around what I got, thats all.

I was going to go 6 wide with Temple Guard they be my unit that takes some charges while Skinks or 15 Saurus hits the Flank or The Priest with Steggie.
 
Yeah, but you still need to remove that rod though.
hmmm, I guess if you put your cavalry in the same side...(methinks..) you could try a refused flank and put your whole army in one corner with your SCoR and steggi to handel any incoming flankers... just make sure you see combat with your large blocks. Its so easy to out manouver M4 units...
 
Yea that is what I was thinking too, I was going to put rod on the Skink Priest. Can I give the Temple guard or Scar Vet Dispell scroll? I would be doing that.
 
I'm afraid not. only wizards can be equipted with arcane items...
 
you might want to try 2 saurus units of 18, one unit including your scar vet.
3 ranks of 6, this will give you plenty of attacks to make sure you get little in return (unless you play against HE). also get your steg ready, you'll need him to have some punch.

best thing you can do is get more skinks, as your army is a little unbalanced in the heavy hitters/shooters.
your core is strong, but you need something that keeps your opponents attention while you get your core into CC where you want them.

Ya sorry about other list here major point problem and other stuff that didn't feel right. How does this look? Better then the 1st, or worse.

Also another 2 Lizardmen players going to be there might just be 1, but whatever. 2 dark elf player, Empire, Vampire Counts, Dwarfs but non anvil list, 2 ORcs and Goblins, pesky High Elfs, and Bretonnia, too bad the Skink on Steggie loses the BIG BOW! How do you guys think it will do, also might be more guys, but only play 3 games so don't know what I will get. Also maybe a Tomb Kings army don't know yet.
 
you have misscalculated the pts on all your heroes and the TG unit, so check that out...
That been said, I think this list is slightly better and would deffinetly favor a strong center-army that just marches up and over the enemy. just be on the lookout for enemy march-blockers and flankers.
I would have your 2 skink units follow right behind your saurus/TG blocks to prevent enemy flyers to marchblock you, and so you have rid yourself of that problem. I certently miss some element of divertion in this army, like a unit of razordons/sallies or terradons, but as for getting the best out of your modells, this isn't bad at all :)
 
Well I spent 160$ on this force already, don't really want to spend more also I have to get another box of Saurus and Skinks so yea. Also got car so I got little money in bank.

I just had this one question, I have 35 points left, Don't know if I should give him the maiming Shield, or Shield of the mirrored Pool, or just a Dispell Scroll or something else. What is your tips
 
Your slann is 475 pts and your Priest 415 so your down to 2220 pts

Think I would have added a scroll just to have a buff when the nasty spells kicks in.
 
Ya I was thinking the same thing thanks for a lot of help Aparach. Hope I can get in a decent place with a painted army lol, painting 2250 in less then a week, got slann and 20 Saurus done gotta finish others.

Ya did the Tournament got 16th outa 20. Lost badly 1st game fought against Chaos Dwarfs, with 1 lvl 4 wizard and 3 lvl 2 wizards, 6 BT 6 hobgoblin units 3 units of Chaos Dwarf Warriors, 2 Earth Shakers and Death Rocket. Earth Shakers really killed me making me move only, so 4inchs per turn isn't good and death rocket took off 4 wounds on Steggie before it came out and then BT took it down. Too magic and Shooty heavy, had no chance.

2nd was against Brets, not massacure but minor lost, or just lost. It was looking good but around the last turn it went bad for me. I miscast and my enemy like 3 times or 2 PER TURN. Killed 10 Temple Guard, by myself more then my opponent killed. Magic was bad for me and other stuff. It looked good only when Steggie got run down from a challenge. Don't know how I would lose by 1. but whatever.

3rd was against a player I love playing against. Lizardmen, with 2 units of Skinks with Blow pipes and 2 more with javelins all Skirmishers. Big Saurus on Carnasour, 3 Terradons, Cold one knights, Steggie with EOG and Chief with Spear for his Steggies. He shot my Skink priest to death then I had clear charge against his general, and went in kill him and his mount whimpered. then I pit of shades the Skink priest on Steggie, later on, no miscasts this game happy. Big turning point when his Chief killed unit of saurus with Cold Ones. He killed my temple but they didn't go down easy.

What I learned from my 1st 3 games, for playing Lizardmen, is this. Temple Guard GREAT!!! Most have! Saurus is great but I think next time taking a unit of 18 and not 2, to free points for other stuff, like Raz or Salamanders, or another Steggie. I like the list but played against some cheep armys but last one was most fun, even though I lost. Also Skinks Skirmishers they do their job well. Also try casting with less dice mostly get miscast. Also Lore of Metal was fun but like shadows better. Feel like should play more with this list to see what I can and can not do with it.
 
Yeah, playtesting your army is the best way to learn! And I can agree, when fielding a Slann, the TGs are awesome :meh:
