TOP TEN Lists - This Week: "Blank Check" Media Projects.

Okay... for the next list, do you guys want something more conventional (like we have been doing) or something that requires a bit more creativity on the part of the list compiler?

The next three to chime in on the question make the decision. Democratic vote.

for once, let's see what you have in mind with "creativity" ;)

Topic #27 - Top Ten "Blank Check" Projects.

In this scenario you are given a "blank check" with which to have any entertainment project [specifically movies, TV shows, video games, songs/albums or books] produced. Here are the guidelines:
  • exclude any consideration of profit, fame or personal gain (other than enjoying the media piece you have commissioned). The media created should be for your personal entertainment only. In no scenario would you or anyone you know make a profit. And no, you can't keep the blank check!
  • since you have unlimited funds, there are no issues in terms of IP considerations. You can imagine that you have access to all IP and are free to combine or manipulate them as you wish. That is not to say that your project must include any known IP, it can be your own creation/thought.
  • since you have unlimited funds, there are no restrictions on who you can hire to write, create, direct, act or take part in the creation of your project. They are all happy to do it and will do it to the very best of their current abilities. Any resources that exist, are at your disposal to use.
  • your project can be a continuation of something that already exists, a remake of something, a mix of things, something entirely new, etc. Sky's the limit.
  • you are still bound by the laws of the universe. You cannot commission something to be created that we do not have the technology to actually create (i.e. an actual holodeck experience). Nor can you hire someone who is deceased. Nor can you choose to turn back the clock for someone (i.e. I want a prime Harrison Ford to play in...), although you could employ Hollywood CGI de-aging effects, since we are capable of that.
  • assume that you are having the project created based on your own personal interests (what you would like to watch, read, play, etc.) and not for the enjoyment of someone else that you might know (i.e. my child really likes this, so...)
  • no need to consider the time required to produce the project, this is hypothetical, so imagine that it is created instantly

Given that scenario, what are the top ten projects that you will have commissioned? Be specific and provide a good explanation of it. If you are having a movie made for instance, what is it about? who will write it? who will direct it? who will act in it? etc.

This one should be fun. Unlike previous lists, I don't have a completed list already prepared for this one. I know my #1, but I have some thinking to do to create the rest of my list. I am seriously interested in all the great things you guys will come up with.

Go...

Two things come to mind.

1. A series of movies (seven due to the novel titles) based on the Jack West novels by Australian writer Matthew Reilly.

These are fast paced action and intrigue stories as (no spoliers) Jack West puts together a crack team to investigate ancient mysteries and save the world whilst going up against other groups of self interested bad guys usually all at the same time.
I imagine it as an (early) Indiana Jones style of movies.
I could also imagine this as an old style cliff hanger type series as almost every chapter in each novel is a cliff hanger. A clever style of writing as it makes you want to binge read the books. You can't put them down.
I have no idea of director or actors for this. Haven't got that far, but for director someone in the vein of Peter Jackson (LOTR) or Steven Spielberg.

The 2nd would be a really decent movie based on something in H.P Lovecrafts Cthulhu world. Again I'd have to contemplate this.

Go...
Wow. TEN of these kinds of ideas? If it's a media idea (i.e. like a movie or TV show), would others see it or is it just for "your eyes only?"

Now THIS I like! :)

I absolutely know what my Number 1 is, and could probably think of another four or five, though it will take time to think of the rest. Not to mention thinking about who could star in my various productions.

Nevertheless, it shall be done...

TEN of these kinds of ideas?
Indeed!

If it's a media idea (i.e. like a movie or TV show), would others see it or is it just for "your eyes only?"
As long as you adhere to the idea that you are creating it for your own personal enjoyment, you can proceed either way (or a combination of both). That way, if you created a multiplayer video game, you could always assume to have players to play with/against. But if you wanted something for strictly your eyes only, that is cool too. As long as you are not creating the project with specifically someone else in mind (wife, girlfriend, child, parent, friend, etc.) its okay. The list is supposed to detail the projects that you personally would most like to see brought into the world.

Now THIS I like! :)
I'm glad to hear it. I was wondering how people would respond to this rather strange top ten list.

I absolutely know what my Number 1 is
I'm curious!
