So, I've heard it a few different ways now.

Do you say...

Ba-STEE-a-don

Ba-STILL-a-don

Ba-stee(l)-YA-don

Ba-still-YA-don?

I've always read it as ba-stee-ya-don! Maybe with a very soft 'L.'

How do you guys do it?

But in the Netherlands we say.

And in Turkey where i currently live they just make a big mess of it, usually resulting in big confusion until somebody points a the actual model and says "that thing"

I think the "ya" is because of doubl L (LL) in spanish gives a "ya" sound

like

Vani-ya

Then there's the whole 'pal-an-kwin' versus 'pal-an-keen' thing.

Unlike "Bastiladon", "palanquin" is a real word. My understanding is that 'pal-an-keen' is correct.

You're right. I just read about 'bastila' (also a real word), and wondered how others pronounced it. The 'don' part isn't relevant, I guess.

bastille is real word too, its a fortress in paris.
Im pretty sure thats what they were thinking of, and the "a" is just a grammatical fix to make it sound right.

I'm sure the GW staff must have decided to name the dinosaur on Bastille Day because they aren't that creative. Ripperdactyl, dead Slann named Kroak. I tend to rebel by pronouncing it differently. I pronounce Kroak as Krow-ack to hide the punish origins.
