Well after reading the new Lizzie book front to back for what seems like the hundredth time last night i have decided i would like to do a themed list surrounding the heros of the first city, Itza. i love the fluff surrounding the city. Never fallen, the largest of the cities, holds most of of Old Ones greatest treasures and central to the geomantic web.
In a nutshell for me this meant certain elements were mandatory:
Lord Kroak- Ok, so he cannot exploit high magic and spell switching trickery, but reading his rules he's still VERY usable and you cannot stop him casting in anyway except killing him. (Good luck with that)
Gor-Rok- Spawned in the great pools of Itza, so definitely the hero of choice for this themed list. The fact he is now a proper beast is a welcome bonus.
Temple Guard- i had originally planned to not use TG in this book, but it just wouldn't seem right for Kroak to be anywhere else.
A Skink Oracle on Troglodon- Itza's spawning pools were the first to see these creature appear, so i felt it was right for an army of Itza to utilize them. plus in the list i feel there is great opportunity to make the most of the Roar at the right moment.
Anyway heres the list.
Lord Kroak
Gor-Rok
Scar-Vet- LA, Enchanted Shield, Talisman of Preservation, BSB
Skink Priest- Level 2, Dispel Scroll (undecided between Heavens and Beasts)
Skink Chief- Spear, LA, Charmed Shield, Egg of Quango, Ripper
Skink Chief- Spear, LA, Shield, Potion of Fool Hardiness, Ripper
31 Saurus- HW/S, FC
32 Saurus- HW/S, FC
30 Temple Guard- FC, Standard of Discipline
Ancient Stegadon- Sharpened Horns
Ancient Stegadon- Sharpened Horns
Troglodon
Ok so its built around Kroaks unbreakable horde of TG, Flanked by 2 saurus hordes, supported by stegs and the trog for a roar at the right time for extra nasty and 2 good ripper chief builds for taking out warmachines/chaff.
undecided but most likely the character deployment is:
Kroak- TG
BSB- TG so he's most central for the re-roll bubble
Gor-Rok- i'm thinking in a saurus unit so it gains stubborn as its wasted in the TG.
Skink Priest- probably in the other saurus unit that Gor-Rok isn't. should still have range to prevent other mandatory overruns if on the edge of unit.
Anyone think this works? any suggestions both unit wise and tactically?
