Is it different in the European market?
A bit. Way less payTV here. At least here in Germany we are used to get a lot of TV for free.
Well... kinda for free because we pay something akin to a tax.

That makes people more reluctant to pay for more than one or maybe two streaming services.
IIRC they are also more expensive here, and some of them contain less stuff because of licensing reasons. An example is Star Trek, which isn't on Amazon Prime here.
Disney+ isn't working at all here, and won't be for another half a year.

So yeah, not quite the same.
Edit: bottom line: Americans are used to paying for TV as soon as they want to see something good, Germans aren't.
