The Random Thread of Random Randomness

I just finished watching Ant-Man and The Wasp.
It was an entertaining movie.

Now where's that list of Marvel movies I haven't seen yet....

Ah, there it is:

- Spiderman: Homecoming
- Black Panther

One of those is next.

Then only Captain Marvel and Avengers:Endgame are missing I think.

Both are fine movies, neither is necessary to watch before Endgame though.

Spiderman Homecoming is not that different from other Spiderman franchise movies but the acting is good and there is a solid character arc.

Black Panther has a very compelling villain. I also really am fond of Black Panther himself. He is the only Marvel hero besides maybe Dr. Strange that takes what he is doing seriously and doesn't quip constantly.

I think I will go for Black Panther.
I should probably have seen that one before I watched Infinity War because apart from a tiny bit of knowledge from the comics I had no clue what the hell Wakanda is and who all the people were that wore the weird mixture of African cultures style clothing.

(I see what they did there of course, they didn't want just one African culture to be Wakanda, so they just mixed a lot of them together to include everyone. I have seen Maasai, Himba, Sotho and Zulu style stuff in Infinity War. There are probably more that I didn't recognize. I am not an expert on African cultures.)

@pendrake : What's with all the maps? o_O
Glad you asked.

There is a random TwitterBot called the Uncharted Atlas. This Twitterbot (and until a few days ago I had no idea there’s such a thing as Twittrrbots) creates a brand-new, randomly generated map at one hour intervals.

A few of these are islands.

@Scalenex is world-building and trying to flesh out his RPG setting. He has sketched a map of the world. There are numerous islands dotted around...most of which are boring kidney-bean shaped blobs. @Scalenex wanted to improve on this with better looking coastlines.

So I started gleaning islands from the bot. But, rather than clutter up his thread with meaningless map images which might or might not catch his eye. I thought hard, and with a mighty THUNK! it occurred to me, ‘the perfect place to post randomly generated things would be in the dedicated thread for random things’.

It’s on topic, in the thread that has no topic.

Their name generator is a bit weird. Lots of basically unpronounceable names.
The islands are nice though.
