Consider this the one "catch all" thread to rule them all. Anything goes (as long as it doesn't conflict with forum etiquette of course).
  • The more random the better.
  • The more dissimilar from other pre-existing threads the better.
  • The less repetition the better
  • The less spam the better
  • Conversation, conversation, conversation!

The purpose of the thread is to provide a space for random conversations and posts. A chance to post something that might not otherwise warrant the creation of a dedicated thread (or one which doesn't already have a dedicated thread).

Unlike its sister thread "Last person to make a post wins", there exists no objective of winning here. Here there are only participation ribbons to be had, and even those are only figurative.

Reaper Miniature Forums is on the fifteenth iteration ( XV ) of a thread like this.

Is that where you got the idea?

They lock each prior thread after ~10K posts.

Because, a thread of indefinite, possibly infinite length, will at some point Bork Up the software that runs a Forum.

Interesting... I never knew that. Does that mean at some point I should create a "Just for laughs..." vol. 2 thread?

As for the idea for this thread, it was born out of conversations in the "Last person to make a post wins" thread.

Its still working. And no, a ploy is not required. I think a few others had issues with my shall we call it "proficiency" in that thread! After all, nearly 8 out of every 100 posts on this site have been made by yours truly.
