The never-ending battle against woke Hollywood and SJW infused entertainment media [trigger warning]

Do we not think that perhaps the female custodes thing is maybe being blown out of proportion? I don't really follow the 40k lore so perhaps I am ignorant, maybe blissfully so.

I would say yes, if you consider it in a vacuum.
But after more than a decade when it was plain for all to see the slow (and in some cases unfixable) destruction of entire franchises made by the woke movement, it's not surprising at all that the fans of any fictional product, will react vehemently if that cancer threatens the lore they love.

I dunno what you're talking about, that all female ghostbuster film was great!

+1

Exactly this.

If we thought female custodes was the only change they were doing, it would not be a problem. Even if they said "there are some female space marines in all the chapters", that wouldn't be that big of a deal (at least not for me). It's not like Games Workshop hasn't changed their lore before.

The issue is the "how" and "why" of this rule change suggest that something bad is afoot. The DEI crowd never stops at one change. DEI keeps going until their target DIEs than they move on to the next target.

The following is a theory, not a fact. It's not mine, but I think it is likely.

If they said "Amazon want a major female custodes on their show, so we are retconning a lore change to make this work." That would cause a smaller uproar.

Even "Our past lore was sexist, and we want to make our lore more inclusive so we are retconning female space marines" at least would be honest and standing by their convictions.

It was pointed out that the radical Leftist never accepts an apology because they will never let it go that someone used to be an "ist" of some kind.

So the only way to please the radical Left is to say "I've always been on your side." Everyone knows this is not true, but since radical Leftist want to destroy and rewrite history and they do not value objective truth, they do not view this is not true.

If the theory is true, they let the DEI crowd into the leadership of GW and things will only get more woker.

It is possible, that GW is not corrupted yet, but they happen to have a woke idiot or a just a regular idiot in charge of their Twitter account.

But I guess the fan base wants to come down hard because it has proven (via other fan communities) that if you don't gatekeep your community/hobby/lore, it will get subverted by hostile political forces who just want to destroy it.

I am only a casual fan of 40K so I don't care that much, but I am watching this with interest because I used to care about Star Wars and I used to care about D&D, and I've been clinging to the old Star Trek while sticking fingers in my ear and going "lalalalala!" whenever someone talks about Kurtzman era Trek.

I want something new. We haven't really had a new tentpole franchise since Harry Potter and that was late 1990s. Generation Alpha doesn't really have an entertainment franchise that they can say is theirs. They have to make due with their parents' and grandparents' handmedowns.

I'm currently trying to build my own themepark.
