I can think of worse ways to die, but it is a short list.

Even if they find the explorer sub, what next? I don't know how many submarines the United States and Canadian coast guard have. The ocean floor is not homogenous and the Titanic is deeper down than most thing. There are very few submarines in the entire world that can dive that low. I don't know how many of these submarines have a towing or capture mechanism that can pick up a smaller submersible.
