The never-ending battle against woke Hollywood and SJW infused entertainment media [trigger warning]

If I ever start defending the Rings of Power and simultaneously start posting about my newly acquired solid gold Chaos War Mammoths, treat those as separate and unrelated events. ;)

Surely you of all people would never convert to wokeism, not even for solid gold Chaos War Mammoths?

Everybody's got a price. Are you telling me that you wouldn't fake support for the woke if Jeff Bezo's gave you 10 Million Dollars to do so?

Don't consider it as a conversion to wokism, but rather a very lucrative acting gig.

Nope, I simply wouldn't want to serve a greedy, potentially dangerous company like Amazon, in particular for a 'lucrative acting gig' that would likely force me to travel to a rough place like America. I personally like to have enough money to live by, but I place other things in far higher priority than millions of pounds.

That's... an interesting point of view.
I like to think i am incorruptible, but no one is and we are masters when it comes to justify our morally grey decisions ("I'm just acting, those are not my belief, if it was not me it would have been someone else").

The point is that, of course, there's a big difference if you sell your soul because you need money, or because you want more money.

So, if the same offer were made to you, $10 MILLION for you to shill for the Rings of Power... do you take it?

Honest answer?
Yes, yes i would.
I would praise the show, but at my own terms, and all in all I believe i could bring up some points, certainly better than those "tolkien fans" clowns. After all i am a roleplayer and i like to play the devil's advocate.

The most important thing is: i would sell myself because, in the end, this is a show and no matter how you praise it, the audience will determine its success or its failure.
And even more, while the rotten tree can be the same, rings of power just walk the path of forced inclusiveness of a miriad other products.
It's not trying to sell something awful or harmful (pedophile, sex changing therapies on children, and so on).
That is the hill i would die on, no matter the money offered.

The reality is that most people have a price for most things.

I would take the ten million dollars and donate at least five million dollars to anti-CCP non-profit groups.

I'm not going to pretend I would donate ALL of it.

That is some serious anti-CCP dedication. There's no way that I'd donate half that fortune.

I'd move somewhere warm. Likely Hawaii. Get a nice large property with a pool.

It'd better be large enough for that Chaos War Mammoth you've always wanted as well (if you used some of the cash to buy a second-hand one off EBay) :p

Well, if I had oodles of pounds from a transaction more salubrious than anything to do with that Ferengi Bezos (or any powerhouse company in general), I would probably:
  • Buy a medieval or Tudor estate (would have to be in my home country of course)
  • Keep as much of the period decor as possible and if necessary invest cash into adding additional features that would be expected of the period (and ripping out any ugly modern features put in if one or more of the previous owners were modernist vandals, because you do get them)
  • Keep the rest by to hire staff to clean and maintain it all (it's no use in spending all the cash in buying the property if you then didn't have anything to pay for its maintenance)
It would be my own ancient hall, with plenty of room for my expanding Warhammer collection and everything else I own. A dynastic household for my family to preserve across the future generations.

Sounds expensive... but nice. Definitely not pulling that out of $10 million. You'll need that Ferengi Bezos money.

Get Woke, go broke, has many layers for Amazon and the Rings of Power.

Midnights Edge covered it in detail but I can sum up over 20 minutes of video saving you 22 minutes of video watching.

After the disastrous end to Game of Thrones on HBO, Amazon had a plan to capture the fantasy market. Their plan was to have two high budget shows, one that is family friendly and one that is "adult".

The "adult" was going to be based on Conan the Barbarian. They got as a far as a polished script but didn't do casting or filming. The family friendly show would be Wheel of Time.

Amazon got embroiled in a vague Metoo scandal. Jennifer Saulk got promoted and instructed to cleanse Amazon's toxic male image. Saulk tossed out the Conan series and fired the two creative heads. She then wokified Wheel of Time. Maybe it tanked because of the woke, maybe it tanked for other reasons.

Anyway, the creative heads that Amazon fired got to work on House of the Dragon. Up until this point, HBO had I think two failed Westerosi pilots and a lot of fan backlash, but they turned around.

So it's not just that Amazon made a failing show and HBO made a good show. Amazon gave HBO the people to revitalize their previously struggling franchise.
