My store is running a tournament for hero level characters but is not allowing specials or lords. You get 250pts and the battle starts 18 inches apart and anything goes. Ideas please. I plan to take a flying level 2 s.priest wi tepok for about 100pts under the limit it's a lightweight
 
if you take a skink priest you could take a cloak of featers and a rod of storm that way you will allways have a spell that is very strong vs characters, just the frst thinking i had
 
Another thought is mounting a sauros scar-vet on coldone, and giving him bane head and the rod of storm.

Ad a shield to this and you get a much more capable fighter wih a 2+ AS, who is still be manouvrable and who will deal doubble the wounds on you opponents hero in close combat and in the first magic phase with uranos thunderbolt.

The risk I see with a skink priest is getting no damadge spells and therefore insta-lose every battle.
 
thats why i sad that about the rod of strom, may an character with no mage use a bound spell?

In the BRB in the Magic section and under Bound Items it explains that non magic users can indeed still use bound spell items.
 
If you dont roll any 6:s for your magic phase power dice, you are likely to get the spell through, assuming that your opponent doesnt have a scroll.

And even if you get a six you will have close to a 50-50 chanse of getting it of.

IMHO this is a 50-50 chanse of instakilling any enemy. Combined with the fair fighting skills and the bane head effects that will last in close combat as well I think this is the way to go.

PS. Just realised that I might have forgotten how to dispel a bound spell. Do you go for the total rolled or for the power level? Dont have my BRB close-by.
 
Rod of the storm is an arcane item so only wizards can use it.
Have you considered a skink chief on a terradon, with armour of destiny he should be hard enough to kill (4+/4++) not to mention that being monstrous cavalary he is immune to killing blow and gets a stomp, throw in a hand weapon and he gets 6 S4 attacks – 4 him + 1 Terradon +1 Stomp (139 points).
 
i just found insipation:

use a saurus oldblood with a cold one, armour of fortune, bane head and dawnstone.

it would give you a great armour safe with re-rol, 5+ wardsafe movent 7 and the double wounds!

and it is 250 points ;P
 
I was thinking that a Chief on a terradon with the sun staff and a ban head
might have some merit.... just circle the other guy and take pot shots at him unill
he dies, als drop some rocks. and you probaly have points left for a cheap
magic weapoon or armor.

You have to dispel what they roll. The bound level is just the minimum that have to roll to get the item's spell to go off.
 
y dont u try a skink cheif with the dagger of sotek and potion of speed, at that point ur almost always going 1st with killing blow ive used that build n tons of games with great luck
 
The chief on terradon seems like a great idea but as it is this week I unfortunately don't have the money/time to paint or buy it. Oh well also looking through the book i plan to take flying skink priest with rod of storm lvl2. Thanks for the input and it opened up some ideas about the lone slann build in my head, Life loremaster with jaguar charm, storm rod and ruby ring.
