Blog The Jade Host: Mayan Lizardmen

Platform progress update: the details/tiny glyphs on the Xochicalco platform are complete, and two sides of the El Tanjin platform are also now detailed in grey.

I have to say the dark grey makes a huge difference for the larger platforms, really starting to come together. Comparison shot on top of the other platform:

Thanks! I really like how the Xochicalco platform turned out, so here are some closer-up photos of the mural work.

The only thing I am debating is to go back and repaint the tops of each of the platforms. Right now they are mostly light grey with some flecks of brown and green, to make it look like they are mostly stone. But the way I painted them it looks a bit bear and not jungle-y enough. If I don't like how it looks over the next test game I may go ahead and paint most of the roofs brown and green after all.

I think some vines would look awesome.
Not quite overgrown but a few plants would make the roof a bit less uniform looking.

Earlier this week I finally glued some magnets to my center terradon rider:

Now he sits on his tree without constantly falling off every few minutes:

This unit was fun but these tiny flyers are a paint to me... way harder than cavalry. It is going to be a struggle to get my Bretonnian Pegasus knights finally finished :hurting:

That terrain is awesome :O I wish I had so much space for my hobby in my house

The terrain is always fun to make! I am working on getting a new container to hold my jungle plant bits, once I procure one I will be going back and refurbishing this piece to add some vines/foilage stuff. I agree I think it will help the piece.

Next terrain project: Platforms Part 2.

Going to make the large platform on the far left (Uxmal) and the half-platform which is going to be a special one...

Here is the big one so far, all assembled and ready for paint once the glue sets in:

And here is the second half-platform, complete with a hole in the center for a sacrificial snake pit!

It has some resin glyphs around the hole, and some extra leftover stuff on the side.

One last mini-project going at the same time, I am hoping to make a turn counter out of this leftover resin Mayan calendar-dial:

Cheers :vulcan:

Got some painting done through the day and they are looking better. Lot of work to do.

Snake Pit:

The drybrushing helped the stuff on the side, need to do a lot more.

Also made a bunch of clay snakes.

Uxmal platform:

I am most excited about the turn marker!

The turn marker uses a magnet to hold the dial into place. The numbers are Mayan numerals!

Quick question, Warden: How do those Gatormen scale with normal Lizardmen models? Are they as big as a Kroxigor model? Or more in line with a regular Warrior?

Thank you gentlemen!

No problem, here you go!

I don't have an actual kroxigor model, but I did take a bunch extra pictures, and posted them in this size comparison thread for future reference.

Little bit more work done on the snake pit:

Also put these guys on the base, a nice mish-mash of contorted snakes, mixed in with a little treasure and some leftover resin skulls:
