Blog The Jade Host: Mayan Lizardmen

The two terrain pieces are now (95%) complete! The only thing that needs to be added is jungle plants, which I will do at a later date.

Rattlesnake Temple:

Edit: I noticed in the pictures they appear much more white; in real life it is a very light gray.

Next project: basing my special/rare units! I dont have too many that are assembled other than my saurus cavalry and my stegadon, terradons are still definately WIP.

Saurus Cavalry

The plan is to add some water-effects to the base, like my troglodon but in smaller amounts. I will need to play around with this more because the final effect isnt quite as nice as I would have hoped. I painted the water green:

I also made some movement trays for my 5-lizard cavalry units, same way I made the ones for my saurus infantry.

Each has a Lizardmen glyph so I can tell which is which (Red saurus- "r", green saurus "g", black saurus "b", with the double-headed serpent being enough room for 6 lizards so that the saurus scar-vet can join a unit if he wants too.
Saurus cavalry directly before they get jungle foilage added.

Saurus Cavalry and Stegadon bases are complete.

Saurus Cavalry:

I am pleased with how the basing and trays have turned out, but eventually I need to do some work on their gold ornamentation.

And a shot of the scar-vet in one of the newer buildings:

And the Stegadon Pictures:

Stegadon's name is Yax Witz (approximately translates to "Green Mountain" in Mayan)

Edit: Also went back and added links to page 1, to help me find my completed pictures faster.

Goal is to get everything finished on this list! Or at least based...

I have some more pictures left over for May (hard to believe its June already!) for some more basing work:

Chameleon Skinks and my Skink Priests:

I plan to add plenty of jungle plants to the chameleon skinks bases in particular.

Green Saurus, last unit of Saurus to finish:

And my Temple Guard (this picture right before I started to test out the movement tray again):

Also made a new base for the Slann. The previous one I made out of clay was way to frumpy. Also added some additional snakes to grace the mud under the Slann's palanquin as he floats across the battlefield.

My chameleons' bases are done! And so are the priests and the saurus, but I need to take some better pictures.

Also hoping to work on some more terrain over the next few weeks, I havent decided to try either making more road pieces, or maybe trying my hand at making a modular river.

Took some better pictures of my new completed units.

Green Saurus of the Ceiba Shrine

My green saurus are officially complete, bringing my total number of completed saurus up to four units of 16! They were the first unit I ever assembled or painted in this hobby, it only took me about 10-ish years to base them.

He is hard to see, but a few of my chameleon skinks make cameos in the backgrounds of these photos...

Pictured here with my second Warhammer unit and first saurus unit with spears, the Black Saurus:

And some group photos with all the saurus in their movement trays and with their unit fillers:
