Blog The Jade Host: Mayan Lizardmen

Love the water effects and the base overall!

Thanks for the compliments!

@Warden : your Trog was a great contest entry. Not only does it look amazing, but it is cost efficient since you got a "free" Trog out of essentially extra leftover bits. Throughout the contest I was very curious as to who had created it. Excellent job!

Definitely happy with the cost efficiency of this model :D glad you enjoyed it!

You did an amazing job here! I like how your interpretation of this idea is very much your own! The priest lools great! I am blown away by the jewel eyes! All over this is a fantastic conversion.

That trog conversion is AMAZING!!!!! I might do something similar!

Thanks! It was fun to put together, especially since it was so cheap. Looking forward to seeing what you can come up with.

It'll probably be a while. No clue when my gf and I will get around to painting. :(

Finally back home, as I already mentioned in my Mayan Art fanatic thread I am excited to get back to painting and doing actually hobby work on my Lizardmen.

First thing I had to do was to do a quick inventory of what models I have and what I still want to do with them. Mostly bases :bag:, but a lot were never finished before I left.

Time to start working! I added my army list to the first page of this paint thread to keep it updated (originally over at @Killer Angel 's Great Model List).

Second thing to do: take some epic pictures. :snaphappy:

This is what my humble Lizardmen army looked like back in May of 2013, though I didn't get to posting them on this forum until March of 2016:
1 Army Photo Wide.jpg

Since that time I have added quite a bit, but going over my posts I haven't taken a full-blown army shot since 2013!

So here we go; since then I have added a unit of saurus (plus movement trays and unit fillers for the other three), a Troglodon, a full unit of Temple Guard, and have my WIP carnosaur and terradons.

Stegadon was painted, more terrain has been added, but only two models in the entire army are actually based :shifty: (Troglodon and the Coatl).

More pictures of some of the units to follow, as well as lots of additional projects!

Picked out some good pictures of my terrain collection.

And for those of you who also have tiny creatures that like to bother you while you are working on your hobbies:

There is a definite lack of foliage that needs to be rectified! :nailbiting: A few sets of jungle trees (hopefully something half as good as the trees on @Jorgik 's thread) are on my long term to-do list. :angelic:

I am really digging your carnosaur paint scheme I might try something similar

More pics, this time updated character photos:

Jatzom Kuh (Spearthrower Owl)- Slann Mage Priest of the Jade Host

This guy has several years worth of paint chippings that need to be fixed. Love the model.

Glad you liked the photos! I haven't finished my carnosaur yet, mostly because I am undecided on the color scheme. The paint job was originally supposed to be a hybrid so that both my troglodon and my carnosaur could be used on the same model. Since I used the extra troglodon bits on their own, now I need to figure out what to do with the actual carnosaur. I may keep it, but I have seen plenty of great GREEN carnosaurs out there that I may have to go back and do some research.

Sijak K'ak (Smoke Frog), Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur

Looking very good, especially your smoke frog pic.

I liked that pic too :), wish I had a high-def camera to capture everything in focus at once!

Yax Nuunayiin (First Green Crocodile), Saurus Scar-Veteran and main object of my last short story contest entry!

Yaxum Balum (Bird Jaguar), Saurus Scar Veteran mounted on his Cold-One and duel-wielding a pair of gilded axes. He also made an appearance in my (long) short story, along with my Slann!

Some of the non-mounted models. Smoke Frog (the big saurus in the middle) isn't magnetized yet, so for now he is without his base and is just balancing precariously for the photos.
