There was a joke that Superman is unrealistic in the 21st century.

Okay, so a space alien that looks like a handsome human came to Earth and is bullet proof and has a bunch of other special powers, but I cannot believe a man or woman could have a nice apartment in a big city, nice car, and an overall high standard of living working for a newspaper.


Recent news has made me ponder something similar about Young Justice, a show I normally heap praise on. In YJ, the United Nations has real power.

In the wake of recent events, that seems more unrealistic than the Green Lantern Corps. A horde of loosely organized vigilantes defend the galaxy using magic rings powered by imagination and overseen by a bunch of space smurfs.
