The various internet reviewers I trust have reviewed Batwoman.

-It's bad. It's not a dumpster fire. It's just a dull. The protagonist has a character arc issue she resolves within the first episode.
-It's not near as woke as the trailer made it look like. The trailer cherry picked the wokest moments.

I saw one review that was saying pretty much the same thing...

I'd be cautious about the woke aspect though, as they are only a single episode in. Supergirl took a little bit of time before transforming into a fullblown wokefest. Not to say that this means that Batwoman will, but the warning signs are there.

It is the first time I've ever seen a TV show or a movie hit single digits on RT (I'm sure there are other instances, but I can't ever recall personally seeing them)...

That has happened now. They essentially Thanos snapped thousands of negative Captain Marvel reveiws away. In any event, Rotten Tomatoes uses. "Did you like it, yes or no?" and then count the tallies. They never ask, how much did you like it or dislike it which skews things.

That is part of the reason the movie industry is declining. A family friendly movie that a wide demographic likes a little bit will make much more money than a niche film that a small demograpic really likes. But that's a separate issue.

A rated R movie has a tough time competing against a PG movie of the same level of quality. Joker is doing pretty well at the box office, but it has zero chance of reaching the level of an Infinity War or Endgame.

Moving past simply box office results, niche films with smaller (but highly enthusiastic and loyal fan bases) can make a fair bit of money off of merchandise spread across a large period of time. Many cult classics continue to reap the rewards from movies that were released decades ago. People that like a certain movie "a little bit" are unlikely to spend much money after they have seen the film. I'm not saying that this fully equals things out, but it is a factor to consider.

From an artist perspective, creating a cult classic is a great achievement. For a producer, I cannot imagine a cult classic is much of a commercial windfall. How many residuals did The Never Ending Story, Princess Bride, and others create? Probably not a lot.

Any event. I do expect to see a lot of Joker t-shirts showing up among twenty-somethings.

How many residuals did The Never Ending Story, Princess Bride, and others create? Probably not a lot.

I truly have no idea, but I'd love to know.

Any event. I do expect to see a lot of Joker t-shirts showing up among twenty-somethings.

They're going to make some great money off of that one. Plus the movie will pull a really nice profit in the box office, especially since the production cost to create the movie was pretty low.

Now that I see Leto again, there is one thing that - purely based on a few stills, I haven't watched that movie - I do _kinda_ like about that Joker:
He is deeply creepy. His looks alone make me feel uneasy. He succeeds in that better than some of the others.

Yes, i can give that to Leto. The look is creepy.

In truth, Leto can't be blamed for that abomination of a movie. Nobody could have saved that script. However, having said that, he still falls short when compared to Ledger, Phoenix, or Nicholson. Leto's interpretation was okay, but those others were masterful.

I would pay money for a six comic series on any of these scenarios.

That's probably why I like the Question as much as I do. The Question is a lot like Batman would be with a lot less money.

The Question also has the issue of being a lot less saint-like than Batman. Among other things, the 1980s series of the question which I bought all of in hardcopy, nearly every story has the underlying theme of a search for redemption.
