I wanted to fit Skink Priest for Wyssan's and a Scroll Caddie, but I couldn't figure out where I could spare points. Any ideas?

Core:
3x 10 Skink Skirmishers

24 Saurus Warriors

12 Skink Cohort

Special:
6 Chameleon Skinks

Stegadon
-Sharpened Horns

Rare:
2 Salamander Hunting Packs
-Snacks

Heroes:
Tetto'Eko

Lords:
Saurus Oldblood (General)
-Cold One
-Glittering Scales
-Fencer’s Blades
-Dawnstone
-Other Trickster’s Shard

Not sure if this Oldblood build is viable, but I just love the idea of Opponents Hitting on 6's in close combat! Against Dark Elves, which is what my usual opponent runs, that means most of his core would be hitting and wounding on 6's. Meanwhile he'd be hitting on 3's and wounding on 2's! But he doesn't have any protection against shooting/warmachines/magic...

Anyway, I'm pretty new to Lizardmen and Warhammer in general, so I'm sure there's a lot to be fixed here. Comments, suggestions and critiques are welcome. Thanks!

Good list for a newbie :P

only thing I would do is replace Tetto'eko with a slann
You need the versatility when it comes to the magic phases.
I doubt lore of heavens will be very useful agains WOC or close combat based armies
But thats about the only negatives with your list :D

Thanks for the advice!

Would you recommend fielding the Slann lone? I could probably fit the Slann just by dropping Tetto and the Skink Cohort, and replacing the Oldblood with a Scar-Vet, but I'm not sure about TG.

I too really like your list.

The Old-Blood should perform extremely well in close combat, his main weakness is his defense against cannons, bolt throwers and any ranged magic that ignores armor. If you are confident that you won't face these things go ahead and use him like this. Otherwise I'd recommend getting him a ward save.

I'm not sure I agree that a Slann is mandatory here, I think Tetto is a very good choice for this bracket. Heavens does have the ability to manipulate combats quite well with Iceshard and Midnight Wind.

If there is a small change I would propose it'd be to fit in a unit of Ripperdactyls or a Bastiladon and cutting some skinks, just to get another potential threat on the board.

Thanks for the tips! I'll probably see how it goes with the current Oldblood the first couple games, and swap something for a ward save if needed. As my usual opponent runs Dark Elves, in most combats Rippers would likely be slaughtered before they get a chance to hit back. A Bastiladon would be a great addition, but I'd have to cut a ton Skinks. Would that be worth the trade?

It might be worth the trade depending of the precise number of Skinks cut and which type is removed.

I'd have to cut at least two units of Skinks, either two units Skirmishers or a unit of Chameleon Skinks and a unit of Skirmishers. I just don't think it'd worth losing that many.

I would bunker the slann in the TG
Trading the skinks for the bas is really up to your preferences
:D

I don't have any TG in the current list, so I'd have to make room. I might just wait until I get my list to 2000 to run a Slann.

Perhaps take out a Salamander and a Skirmisher/Chameleon unit, Salamanders are not quite what they used to be, though they still bring something to the table. If you were to take out a Salamander you could also potentially upgrade your Stegadon to an Ancient, which is always worthwhile.

You're right that Ripperdactyls are very flimsy, I have yet to play them myself for the same reason. They could be valuable for hitting the flanks of a unit of Executioners, Cold Ones or a Chariot. Might even pose a threat to a pegasus Master. But yeah, the Bastiladon is probably the better choice, it would give you a bit more flexibility in the magic phase aswell.

I agree that it would not in my opinion even if you do a non hoard army you always want to maximize infantry.

I learn the dangers of deliberately shrinking my army that hard way.

I could probably afford to lose the Chameleons, but I'm reluctant to pull a Salamander. They can put a lot of hurt on T3 Dark Elves.

Honestly its a matter of taste at this point, I think your list is excellent as it is.

Glad you like it, and thanks for taking the time to help!

In your OP you asked about spare points.

At 1500 points, your core has to be a minimum of 375 (if I've pressed the calculator buttons correctly!).

I think your core is sitting at over 500, so you've got 'spare' points there. But you'd have to lose some skinks and/or saurus to fit in a priest with scroll.

Having just played a 2500 pt game with only Tetto and no priests, it was a real pain when he took a laser beam to the face (Lizardman civil war!).

That's a good point about the core. I don't need nearly as much as I've got; I guess I could afford to lose a Skirmisher Unit and a couple Saurus. Thanks!
