In my rulebook I saw that a halberd requires two hands but temple guards on all pictures have both a halberd and a shiled. Did I overlook any special rule or somethink?

they can use their shields against ranged attacks.

How about in close combat do they get +1 to their armor save.

Sadly they now have to use their 2 handed halberds whenever they are in close combat,
In previous editions they could choose between halberds or hand weapon and shield.

So no bonus for the Temple Guard shields in close combat.

wow thats dumb ive been using their sheild save in closcombat. i thinks thats pretty dumb since our armour save would only be four then. Might as well just get alot of saurus warriors then.

Yeah but the advantage of the TG is higher strength to deal more damage, and they provide great protection for your Slann, plus get stubborn when they are with him. Sure TG are not particularly effective on their own, and you are better of with saurus, but if you want somewhere to put a Slann, there is no better place.

Thats good to know, army builder just has them as a 3+ save instead of a 3+/4+ or 3+*

The only thing can be better with Temple Guards are that they can have a Magic Banner, which is useful.

Also, units costing much can be very good just because of that if you can keep them alive, as your opponent would have fewer places to get points from.
