Open to interpretation, but that's how I read it, the 4s are the extra attack so the 6 would be disqualified. No doubt still a good model, a possibility of 10 or even more attacks out of this guy (dice permitting ).
 
I think that because the passive abilty not the attacks themselves cause the ability to trigger it does not fall under the rule of one. I can see how it could be read the other way though.

That's my thought as well. I wonder if this one will be allowed on tournaments.

I would love to be wrong here, but the use of the word any extra attacks, and this would in most cases be counted as an extra attack. Might be something you have to discuss with your opponent before going for the third attack. Have not been able to find an FAQ on it as of yet.

I like the ripperdactyl rule as a comparison, because rippertactyls gain a free attack whenever they succeed at an attack roll - the attack roll itself is generating the extra attack. The Rule doesn't limit extra attacks generally, just extra attacks generated from other extra attacks, hit rolls, and wound rolls. The Scar Veteran's 4+/6+ Fury roll is not an extra attack, hit roll, or wound roll, and therefore shouldn't interact with the 3rd Rule of One at all.

That's actually a very good point!

It doesn't say that those rerolls must be generated by attacks. You cannot use an ability to gain extra attacks more than once.
The ScarVet Fury is listed under "abilities" and generates additional attacks. So yeah, Rule of One.

I can definitely see your point. 'An ability' does seem pretty all-encompassing, but I don't think the Rule is actually saying just 'any ability'. The sentence as a whole narrows the definition of 'an ability' to those "attacks, hit rolls, or wound rolls" that generate extra attacks, hit rolls, or wound rolls, and then further clarifies that any additional attacks or hit/wound rolls cannot themselves generate extra attacks/hit/wound rolls. The Fury ability isn't any of those specified things that the Rule limits.

So I agree that Fury would be caught under the "an ability" umbrella if the sentence didn't further define things by listing which rolls it affects. But I do stand by my understanding of the Rule that since the Scar Vet's Fury ability doesn't fall under the restricted definition of 'an ability' stated by the Rule, it isn't intended to be limited by it.

An FAQ on this point would be pretty wonderful though, because there seems to be enough evidence for either interpretation that an official word would be helpful.
 
Guys I 'm about to use Sunblood for the first time this week as I love the model, love its stats and love it's command ability. He is awesome.

I 'm scared of one thing though - the 7 wounds. Even with master of defense, with so many mortal wounds dealers of d6 is there a way to somehow "protect" him a bit more besides a mystic shield ?
 
It's more wounds than a lot of heroes, but have a plan. Mystic shield, jade battlemage's lifesurge spell, cover. Don't over extend or put him in a spot that he can't get cover fire or back up.
 
Guys besides reforming before charging and getting out of combat when not wanted, is there another use for Oldbloods ability in fighting ?
For example to somehow encircle the enemy before charging with a 40 warrior unit to ensure more hits ? Although my guess is not since each model can move up to 3"
 
It's more useful in combat for preventing the enemy from getting multiple pile ins, or allowing you to pile in smarter if you weren't able to in the charge.

Yep. Or to minimize the amount he can pile in with the current unit. Or prevent additional pile ins from other units.

How do you mean that? I mean, I get that during the charge you can only move to a certain distance. But can't you then just pule them in any way you want either way?
 
Well, sometimes if you just barely make a charge, you won't be able to optimize your pile in, depending on how your unit is formed. You may have a couple of stragglers that could not get into combat with the pile in this round, or if the opponent has removed casualties in a way that minimizes your next round of combat, this would allow you to rearrange things to optimize. Especially important if you have a bunch of models are in base contact, they won't be able to move. Now you can rearrange to move rhem into better position.

That doesn't mean that, once you get the 4+, you recieve Only 1 attack with the pike, does it?
