Usually, I intend to end my contests with the solstice but I'm running a little late, so this Summer I am starting the poetry contest with the solstice.

This is going to run more or less concurrently with the July-August short story contest, but I don't think that will be a problem. There is enough writing talent on this forum to spread between two contests and I'm sure a great many forumites will submit short stories and poems this Summer.

I don't know about the rest of you throughout the world, but in my area, Summer is hitting unusually hot, unusually early. We'll see if the heatwave induced by mighty Chotec can heat up people's poet muses.

The Theme
There is none. Choose whatever theme you like so long as it is at least somewhat related to Lizardmen, Seraphon, Salamanders or Saurian Ancients.

There is an unofficial theme to make this Summer and/or Chotec focused, but that is a recommendation, not a requirement.

The Rules
There are none. (Apart from the following)(So in actual fact there are some rules, I lied to you, I am sorry)

-Keep your poem to an artistic minimum. Word count wont be stressed about too much in here, but ideally the poem should be more than two lines.
-Keep it anonymous. Don't use your own name in the poem or use someone else's name throw them off the scent
-Keep Lizardmen in the story or some aspect of their world / lore.
-Keep visuals and images to a minimum or none at all this is a poetry competition.
-Keep em coming
-Multiple entries are allowed from the same person!
(limit of three per person though just for sanity's sake)
-Submission deadline is August 2nd, noon US central time. To submit, please send a private message to me, Scalenex.

The next poetry contest will bein mid December, give or take a few weeks.

Okay!

[LoR blows dust off of his creative instincts and realizes that he doesn't have a clue what to write.]

Um.... not okay I guess...

I need something to hit me as inspiration...

Well, I will heave to take some time to think of something decent.

We have a new record for the fastest entry submission after a contest begins: Roughly 90 minutes after I posted the thread: three poems.

Grrr, Imrahil

My (first) entry is in as well. One of the 6 I presume ;)

Yep you are the sixth. But since my last posting.

This is probably because I'm busting a deadline but I actually had a stress dream about this contest last night! I was at a convention somewhere and a bunch of people were giving readings, including me, and when it was my turn I kept mixing up my papers and none of the poems were what I wrote and some of them were, like, famous poems and I was sweating buckets.

Oh my lord... Probably a good time to take a little walk around and look at trees and stuff. Get some space.

It's great to be emotionally invested, but not at the cost of your sanity! :)

After a very strong start, I haven't had any new poetry submissions for weeks.

Hopefully you guys can crank out a last minute poem or two. I have a last minute idea myself, so I am confident we will have at least nine poems, but I would like to see 12 or better.

I am trying hard to get a short-story going, so not sure if I can come up with an extra poem.

Grrr, Imrahil
