What strategies do you use to deal with KO? Particularly the big ships... they seem very hard to catch, and if you don’t position well they can seriously slap with all those guns.

What works for me is screening out their range bands. Most of their big scary guns are 24 inch ranges. So if you set up your skink screens at least 16 inches away from the things you care about the most, then they will be 25 inches away when they teleport and cannot shoot their big guns at the things you care about. Then you can teleport a unit of salamanders into range of the ships and melt them.

yes, ranging out for 18" and 24" shots is certainly manageable. Generally if you aren't fast enough, or have shooting, you cant catch the boats.
What you then do is play the objectives and take out the arknaughts or other bodies on the board and force the boats and such to come to you
