Did Darth Vader win? Yes, but only barely.

But there are only two Sith and there are thousands of space marines.
First, we're comparing a lightsaber against a chainsword, not a Jedi/Sith to a Space Marine. Imagine a human with a lightsaber against a human with a chainsword.

Second, while the 40k universe is a more dangerous place than the Star Wars universe, a Sith stomps a Space Marine. For a Space Marine to have a chance, he must be a psyker (then we have contest). An "ordinary" Space Marine would be cannon fodder; force abilities are a game winner. Most Space Marines are not psykers, so your point on their large numbers is moot.

Third, that video depicts one person's artistic view on how the battle would go down. In no way definitive... and even in the video, Vader could have easily swept the lightsaber blade up when he thrust him through the chest, ending the fight immediately.

well, number is definitely a thing.
During the execution of the Order 66, we saw many jedi taken down by multiple basic soldiers.
You can parry one bolter's shot, you can parry 2, you cannot parry 20 shots.

They were caught unaware. The Clone betrayal was completely unexpected. They had served with such loyalty until that moment.

It also depends on the source...

And it's not like the Sith fight alone. They have personnel, ships and equipment at their disposal. And while the 40k equivalents are stronger in a straight up battle, the Star Wars universe would have one trick up their sleeve... speed. Hyperspace flight is way faster and more reliable. In the hands of someone like Thrawn, the hit and run opportunities would be endless.

And then you have a Sith like Naga Sadow, who could use the force (Sith magic) to make a sun go super nova. Space Marines seem pretty basic against something like that.

But like I said to @Scalenex , the comparison wasn't between Sith and Space Marines, it was between a lightsaber vs a chainsword. If you have the chainsword and I have the lightsaber, I would cut you down easily. It would not be a fair fight.

oh, i agree, but previously i've said they serve different purposes, even as rule of cool they are different.
the lightsaber can deflect shots... a space marine will have armor for that.
is the lightsaber superior? yes, of course.
but the chaisword is mass production and is used effectively with minimal training. Until i will see lightsabers given in millions (or, more correctly, billions) to troops, the advantage of the chainsword lies in that.

That is a fair way of looking at. Although if we're looking at mass production (and ignoring that a gun would beat a chainsword or a lightsaber [for a non-force user]) a regular sword would beat a chainsword. Cheaper to make, less chance of mechanical failure, lighter and faster.

Yep, this is where the rule of cool enters the chat. A real chainsword would be highly impractical, but in images, stories and videos it's grandiose.

Just like the Force is the metaphysical underpinning of the Star Wars Galaxy, the Rule of Cool is the underpinning of the 40K universe.
