a little old but still...
Wait... Is this an argument that the Star Wars that came before is not as good as the Star Wars we're getting now? If so, welcome to the "Whining Star Wars Purists." We meet twice a month. Check your local OT, PT or Clone Wars chapter for days and times.I wouldn't say Andor has sunk without a trace as the Drinker claims, as it is very popular with those who bothered to watch it, from what I've heard, and the next series is still confirmed to be in production, but everything else pretty much sums up the state of Star Wars today.
I hope the whining OT purists who were so needlessly aggressive to George and pressured him into selling Lucasfilm to Disney in the first place are happy.
True, George could have been stronger and refused to cave to their demands, but the fact remains that if those scum hadn't harassed him so much just because he was doing what he wanted with his creation, his franchise, his story, he would have kept it under his wing and away from Kennedy getting her mucky paws on it.
True, I like Rogue One a lot and Andor also looks solid, but with everything else looking from mediocre to downright awful and with Disney losing all momentum to make new content, I certainly do wonder what would have happened if George hadn't sold his brainchild.

Fishing for another OT versus PT debate?
Of course, I was just trying to be overly clever and tease you a bit.Nope, it's simply a statement that Disney have messed up the Star Wars franchise, which is clearly true even from an objective, unbiased standpoint as more and more Disney Star Wars content either fails to perform or even fails to show up.
Very amusing, I'm sure.
However, I am not a purist because:
- I have freely acknowledged that I find some Disney Star Wars to be good (Rogue One, potentially Andor, and to a lesser extent Solo). Not only that, I wish that Disney made more content of that level of quality, and not the far inferior stuff it had also produced. I know they can do it if they try and focus on a mature and realistic story and not on woke virtue-signalling or repeating what has come before, and I want them to continue trying. The demographic I was referring to are all-round haters of anything that has come round since the Original Trilogy that doesn't have the same atmosphere or hero-worship the original characters, just because it sought to do something different. I on the other hand am willing to have my mind opened to new eras and characters, so long as the content they are in is good in its own way. I just wish Disney would focus on making productions that do something different (and the right kind of different, i.e. not woke, inconsistent or otherwise botched) in the first place.
- I have not been aggressive to anybody involved in the creation of media for the franchise just because they were involved in something I didn't like. The demographic I was referring to are those who have in the past flamed individuals like Jake Lloyd, Ahmed Best, George himself, plus later actors like Kelly Marie-Tran, who to them represented the embodiment of what they disliked about newer Star Wars content. I on the other hand have kept my grudges to myself (and perhaps a few associates on here and in real life through debates, I'll admit that
), and have never attempted or desired to genuinely insult anyone.
Well let's just say that you have a way with words that invites such conflict. When you throw around words like "OT purist" and "scum", calamity ensues.Nope, I was just condemning the subset of the OT fanbase that harassed George just because he, the franchise's creator and the ultimate authority on it, wanted to take things in a different direction.
They have every right to dislike his "new" work just like you have every right to enjoy it.
It wasn't their fault that George sold the IP. I think the man just wanted to retire. He hasn't really been very active on other projects since then.
His mistake was not recognizing Kathleen Kennedy as the snake in the grass that she is. Also, he could not have predicted what Disney would turn into. At the time the MCU was healthy and thriving and the full-blown wokeification of Hollywood was still a few years off.
We've got an entire thread dedicated to not keeping it to ourselves. We rant about woke, we rant about GW, we rant about a lot of things. That is the nature of the internet and that is the nature of life. They may have had a right to dislike it, but even if they do they should keep it to themselves. The most vocal did not have the right to start flaming those involved in its development, that was a step way too far.
Really? Exactly what did they say and/or do? Let's see some receipts. I think this has been blown out of proportion.but I'm sure some of it must have been due to the nasty reactions a particularly aggressive minority displayed toward him and other people involved.
