And I wouldn’t be surprised if a six-year old could write a rip-off of Episode IV on par with what that gawky J.J. Abrams developed for The Farce Awakens.

Why did the Sequel Trilogy have to be so shite?

I would like to weigh in on this one.

I believe that the reason it is so bad is because instead of taking it on as a project to create a valuable addition to the Star Wars universe and create a new level of enjoyment for the fans, the actual goal was to push agendas and make money. This, historically, has never worked and is a) a wrong product for a film maker and b) is economically insane. You make money by producing something of great value for the consumer, which is then correctly promoted and (providing you haven't done a TOTAL botch job on your promotion) you then get money in exchange for this item that you have created.

If you want to push an agenda, then do surveys and find out how people feel about it. Then make something that would appeal based on what the public opinion and reaction is to it at present, which would then upgrade the status of your agenda.

There isn't anything wrong with wanting to change minds about a subject, providing this is not a destructive change. But do it correctly, in its own medium not as a farce of something else. Do one or the other.

[Please note I am leaving the subject of Kathleen whats-her-name wanting to destroy the franchise completely out of it, but I will admit that there is something to be said for this being a potential fact.]
