One of my favourite scenes from Return of the Jedi is just after the Rancor dies, his trainer/owner comes in and is super upset like someone had just killed his pet dog. I thought it was a nice touch.

It doesn't matter how ugly your pet is, it's your pet and so it's beautiful.
