Just re-watched the last four episodes of the Clone Wars series. Sometimes I forget how masterful it is. A perfect ending to a show that really grew over the years. Ahsoka Tano really comes into her own and shines. The series finale works beautifully in concert with Episode III.

Yes, the middle part of the new final season is a bit forgettable, but the last episodes are great (even though I'm not really a big fan of "let's keep bringing back Darth Maul").

Agreed, the middle of the season was pretty much just filler, a useless and forgettable story arc. But man did it make up for it in the end.

(even though I'm not really a big fan of "let's keep bringing back Darth Maul").

I've always been a huge Darth Maul fan, so I don't mind, but I can see how others might feel differently.


I thought Rex was great in the finale.

I get it. Like some of my fandom love, I'm of two minds about it. I liked Darth Maul as the hunter/attack dog in Phantom Menace. He was menacing (excuse the pun), had a great look, and a unique, physical and flamboyant fighting style. I thought his arc of "Sith thug" was cool he served that roll really well. Done.

However, he is such a COOL looking character with an unexplored background, that I can see why people want more stories with him. Plus, many "fairy tale/soap opera" stories of bring back "dead" characters. It was a bit of an eye roll for me at the time while watching Clone Wars b/c I just didn't picture Maul as a plotter/manipulator. Regardless, I enjoyed Maul's overall arc through Clone Wars & Rebels.

I am a just a fan of dead characters staying dead. This is not a slight on Star Wars or any other specific franchise. This is a preference for me on ALL franchises.

I guess I'll pick on the Marvel Cinematic Universe specifically. They had so many "not really dead" fake outs that when they started killing characters for real, it had no emotional impact for me.

Sometimes it's okay to have a "not really dead" or a "sci-fi fantasy/ressurection" but that trope can easily be overdone.

A fair enough criticism, one that I share to some degree. However, if they "had" to bring back a character, I'm glad it was Darth Maul. The Clone Wars gave him a huge amount of depth.
